Where do I even begin?! Our GM Brian K. was absolutely wonderful, we showed up four minutes after our time slot of 10:30 since finding parking took a bit longer than we anticipated, and he was ready and waiting for us as soon as we got to the door. Mystery at Innsmouth was our very first escape room ever, and we booked it as we all love the Arkham Horror universe and Cthulhu mythos. Our group enjoys playing Mansions of Madness and other Fantasy Flight games, and this escape room was 100% on brand...
. If you, family, or friends love anything related to the Cthulhu mythos, this escape room is a *must* play. The set design was beautiful, the puzzles and craftsmanship of props used to solve were absolutely ingenious without being too difficult to figure out, though our group was so stubborn we refused to ask for a hint. Brian wasnt one to let us suffer for long, and provided the tiniest of hints by replying one of the audio clips we heard at the beginning of the game, and it was just the extra nudge we needed to snowball into the other puzzles wed managed to complete. We still felt that we figured it out ourselves, which was absolutely icing on the cake as I read some comments about GMs being too helpful (which we wouldnt have minded in the end) but Brian was absolutely perfect at gauging and running our experience like a pro. The props for Innsmouth are exquisite, and the satisfying ding of a bell when a puzzle is solved gave our group a high we rode for the rest of the day. We made it out right around 60 minutes, and I wish I was able to experience this room for the first time again as it was absolutely magical. Mad respect for Brian, he did a phenomenonal job beind-the-scenesing a room where five nerds were having the time of their lives oogling puzzles for so long its a miracle we managed to solve them all.

The Rise of the Mad Pharaoh room was a fun single room adventure. The website states 5-12 people, but I wouldnt go above 7 or 8. We enjoyed our time!

I did the Evil Dead room. This was a really fun room. Its clever and well designed set makes you fell like youre in the Evil Dead cabin with Ash. There was lots of puzzle for a 70min room so it is a bit difficult to get though everything but this was not my first escape room so my friend and I were able to make it out justvin time. I truly enjoyed this experience and highly recommend this room for anyone who likes puzzles and of couse, The Evil Dead movies.

Escape room Mystery at Innsmouth was a lot of fun. Spooky atmosphere, thematic 20 s furniture and decorating. The puzzles were definitely challenging and we made it out of the escape room with only two minutes remaining.

Fantastic cinematic escape room based on Sam Raimis masterpiece. All the puzzles were tactile and well integrated into the story. Movie quality props, made with loving detail.

My friends and I took a trip to Seattle and wanted to do an escape room. We ended up coming here based on online recommendations. We did the Mystery at Innsmouth: An Official Arkham Horror Escape Room. The room itself was great as someone who as been to about ten rooms, I can say the puzzles are done very well. If I were to come back to Seattle, Id go to Hourglass Escapes again! The game master, Miranda, was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about the escape room. She was extremely friendly and her presence actually improved our experience. Keep up the great work, Miranda!

Just adding to the hundreds of 5 star reviews :) Fun escape room for our team of 4. Very organized - had our own clue-giving coordinator for the room who ensured our comfort and safety. Fun, challenging clues and spooky, but no scary, fun mystery room!

We did Evil Dead 2 with our kids (9 and 12) and escaped with 13 min left! We all had a blast. Really well thought out puzzles and Mateo was a great guide master. Highly recommend, and we ll be back for more.

We did 2 rooms tonight at different places and this one was by far the better one! We did the innsmouth one and stepping in we weren t expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised! This room was a spur of the moment after the dissapointment of our first room. The puzzles range in difficulty which was perfect since everyone had different skill sets. They also had way more than just combo locks which was great. We had 4 people and finished around 45/70 minutes but we have a bit of experience now! Definitely coming back to Hourglass next time we do a room in Seattle!

The people were friendly. The room was fun and pretty long. They had some cool mechanisms that I hadnt seen in any escape rooms. Unfortunately its still really expensive so Ill probably not be coming back any time soon. Oh and the room wasnt clearly marked

Absolutely best experience ever!! Will be going here again.. and again and AGAIN! The owner went out of their way to even make our note we had made for our friend to revive after the escape room and laminated it and made the experience absolutely fantastic!!

A+++ I 100% recommend Hourglass Escapes! First I have to mention the people there. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We had an issue flying into town ( luggage didnt make it), and they did everything possible to make sure we were able to enjoy the room. Speaking of the room, we did Pirate escape, and my wife, daughter and I loved it! The puzzles were just challenging enough to make you think and work at them, but still solvable without any hints. Lots of little details and creative puzzles that made this room stand out. This was my 50th escape room and I would easily put this in my top 10. Next time Im in town I will absolutely be trying out their other rooms which look to be just as good.

This was the first time I did an escape room experience. We did the Christmas themed room. The puzzles were fun to do with just the right degree of difficulty. We were able to solve the puzzles with time left over

I had a fantastic time with my group in the pirate room! We made it out in just under the hour, but we really couldn t have done it without our incredibly sweet game master, Willow. If you ve been to as many escape rooms as I have you know that having a good game master really makes the whole room worth it, and she was just so excellent and kind, and you could really tell she loves what she does, which make it all the more better. Thank you so much Willow for a fantastic time and helping us!

Escaped from the Mad Pharaoh room with my parents and my 10-yr old daughter! Intricate design, excellent puzzles, super friendly staff. We had a great time and we ll definitely be back for more!

Great room not necessarily because of challenge but because of the production. Likely most fun for those who have seen the movie but good for all. Multiple rooms, set and props included/nicely integrated in puzzles. Relatively intuitive and good flow. Best for 5-6 people.

I took a group from my workplace and truly got the Team-Building experience. We were a mix of first-timers and veterans, and the puzzle rooms were so well put together that we all had fun, no matter our experience. The team, especially Seth, was great to work with and kept things simple and easy. They were very flexible, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. My favorite quote was from a staff member in the morning, that said they just feel like the entire office had better spirits after the experience. We will be back!

Huge shout-out to the Hourglass team, they are the BEST! We had signed up for the Ghostly Galleon and later had a very special (thank you!!!) opportunity to do the Evil Dead 2 room as well. Both rooms are set up to be challenging and so much fun. We enjoyed both rooms a lot but the Evil Dead 2 room was hands-down the absolute best! This room is the owners special project and the love that went into this room shows. Its funny, challenging, with amazing details and lots of throwbacks to the original movie. Thanks again to the whole team for going above and beyond and being as kind as they are, we had a blast and cant wait to tell everybody to check out Hourglass Escapes when they are in Seattle!

I don t know what the disconnect is between my unpopular opinion of this escape room (negative) and the popular opinion (overwhelmingly positive), but I ve done 10 escape rooms and Hourglass Escapes, specifically the Rise of the Mad Pharaoh variant, is by far the worst escape room I ve ever experienced. I will be intentionally vague in some aspects of this review in order to maintain the integrity of the attraction. First, let s talk about what was good about the experience. The hosts were friendly...
, the place was clean, and they didn t have a leave your cell phone in a locker policy, which is one of my pet peeves with most escape rooms. This made the difference between me being able to participate and not, as I was on-call for work and did not have the luxury of leaving my phone behind. Thanks for treating me like an adult, seriously. Now let s talk about what needs improvement. First and foremost, there are bugs/defects in some of the puzzles. I found it strange that not only did the hosts tell us we had unlimited hints, but they started giving us unsolicited hints without us asking. All but one of the hints they gave us were actually just workarounds for the errors in the escape room. The most common class of error were literal defects in their puzzle system (technology related). This was especially annoying because it kept happening over and over again in different stages of the escape room. The second main class of error was the puzzle design itself. There was a major section of the escape room that we skipped, which we weren t even aware that we did until after we escaped and the host informed us. We were able to skip it because it was entirely unnecessary, and therefore, not properly designed. So in my opinion, the unlimited hints policy is a euphemism for our escape room is problematic and we haven t taken the time to fix it. The occasional issue is fine and expected, but there was some kind of malfunction with every single phase of this escape room. The next massive problem is the breadth and depth of the room. This particular room requires at least 5 people to reserve. However, during the experience, we were largely bottlenecked down to 3 or 4 people because there s simply not enough for 5 people to do. We had 6 people and during our 45 minute escape, 2-3 people in our group would periodically sit idle about half of the time just to avoid having too many cooks in the kitchen. There wasn t even enough working space for 5 people - we d often run out of space on desks, tables, and so on. The variety of the puzzles are easily the worst I ve ever seen in an escape room. All of the puzzles, literally all of them, were code cracking. There were zero exploratory secrets or skill-based solutions. The immersion was also the worst I ve ever seen. There s a reason why they have rules for not dismantling furniture, telling you not to look on the floor, and telling you not to look above your head. No, I m not making this up. Clues are mostly laminated pieces of paper that were printed on an injket. Rare artifacts are random items from IKEA and AliExpress. Almost nothing was hidden anywhere. You were expected to write notes on a terrible device that makes zero sense in the context of the theme, and these devices malfunctioned more than they functioned. Locks were overly simplistic combination locks that looked like kids toys, pastel colors and all. They explicitly disallowed brute forcing locks (just to be clear, I mean trying combinations, not physically breaking them) which is not only immersion breaking (there s a reason why a rational human being would brute force these simple locks in the context of the storyline), but again signals to me that it s a poorly designed puzzle. Frankly, the escape room was just tacky and cheap. I would not recommend this escape room to anyone, not even first timers. Maybe the other rooms at Hourglass Escapes are better, but if this one is any indication of the quality, it would be a very solid no from me. I d be happy to share constructive criticism with the owners.

This is an amazingly well thought out and executed escape room experience. The design elements and storyline were engaging, the staff was exactly the right type of helpful, and the puzzles were challenging but achievable. We had a great time!

We celebrated my 13 year old s birthday by taking him and his friends to an escape room at Hourglass Escapes. It was such a phenomenal experience for all of us. The staff was so helpful and supportive. They gave plenty of clues and had a lot of patience for the loud group of teens. Even though we didn t get it completed in time, the staff went through and gave clues on how to solve the remaining puzzles, while still letting them do the actual placing of objects. The room was engaging and the puzzles...
were exciting to figure out. It could ve ended with the kids being frustrated and disappointed by not completing it but the staff ensured everyone left happy and that meant the world to me. My son is already planning on coming back for another escape. Thank you!

We did two rooms here, Evil Dead 2 and Mystery at Innsmouth. We had so much fun. Both rooms were really well built and the puzzles worked great and flowed really well. So much fun!

Took the youth group at my church to Rise of the Mad Pharaoh and we had a great time! The puzzles were challenging but not impossible, the room was clean and easy to explore. The staff even gave us 10 extra minutes because we were so close to finishing the puzzle! The staff were really warm and welcoming, helpful and encouraging and kept the spirit of fun going. Thank you!

Took a team to the Rise of the Mad Pharaoh and had a blast! The puzzles were fun and not too challenging and the production values made it really fun. A wonderful experience, highly recommend!
