I have done dozens of escape rooms, and this one is by FAR the most run down and unexciting of them all. We did the infiltrator room many of the clues are warn too much to actually work, so you have to either get hints or make leaps or assumptions. We do escape rooms for the fun and the thrill of solving things, but we didn t get any of that here. This room needs a major update - I am not exaggerating or being dramatic. It is almost too run down to even function correctly, which causes frustration...
and takes the fun out of things super quick. I feel bad for the cute kid that was our game master - he did what he could to help with clues or to fix things when they didn t work, he even gave us more time than the hour (KGB got stuck in traffic) but we still didn t solve it. The overall environment was outside of his control, though. I strongly encourage people to go somewhere else, or in the very least, skip this room - I can t speak to the other rooms here, but I honestly don t think I ll be back to try them, given the state of this room. I honestly feel like this was a waste of time and money and would want a refund if that sort of thing happened at places like this.

We used the Get Out Pass to get an escape room experience. We were excited to get started and the theme for the room was nice. The attendant was friendly but didnt help us when we asked for clues until we were 45 minutes into solving the puzzles. The room was very small and extremely hot. We found out that one of the clues was not set up properly for us to solve so we were at an extreme disadvantage. Not sure if Id visit this escape room again or recommend to anyone else.

This was our 2nd visit to this nifty little joint. Chelsea is so cool! Even though the Internet was down, she recited the story and gave us clues to help us along the way! We will be back!

We did the easiest one. We passed. We had fun. The room actually had clues that helped you crack the code.

This was the first time that I have done an excape room. I thought that it was good. I would go again. My family, age 8 to 17 had fun.

Loved the room! Definitely worth visiting. The girl who ran our room was very nice and had great customer service. The room was challenging but not too difficult to where we felt helpless. Honestly, the trickiest puzzle was finding the place!

We go to a lot of escape rooms. This sadly has been our least favorite. They ve got the key idea but we left feeling slightly disappointed. The room was dark and we had to find the flashlights which was fun but the flashlights were cheap and needed new batteries. On top of that there were only 4 flashlights for the eight of us. Half of us just stood there not being able to participate. It also got really warm in there. So after an hour of straining my eyes and getting overheated my head hurt. One puzzle we were not even able to figure out. It has potential though.

Escape Key is a little difficult to locate, but well worth the visit! We had a lot of fun with the escape room. Because we had only 3 people, we received a few free hints. The puzzles were well designed and a couple in the room seemed original to me. There were a couple of misdirections such as poker card hands on the table. Be aware Escape Key is located in the same group of buildings as another escape room company. The door is located in the alley on the south end of the buildings, facing the bank.

My three friends and I had such a good time! The room was tricky enough without being completely impossible. There were some great surprises, and the staff was really kind. The venue itself is in an old office building, but it was really nicely decorated. (I thought the puzzles in the waiting room were a nice touch). I will definitely be going back, and I look forward to when they open more rooms!

Wife and I have done a lot of escape rooms, this one is on par with the rest. Good puzzles, good amount of clues, fun theme.

Just went and had a great time. Definitely worth a try! And it is a little tricky to find. You enter on the south side of the building on the driveway that connects University to the parking lot.

Lots of fun. My kids really enjoyed themselves. We did the Lair of Lunacy. We finished it in about 40 minutes. I was told that it was their easiest room. They gave good clues throughout. They were helpful without ruining your experience. I enjoy a challenge but I dont enjoy something that is impossible to complete. We did another escape room at a different place and the room was fun but almost impossible to complete. The employers were nice also.

We booked a The Lunatic Lair for 6 people and it was so fun! The staffer was super friendly and really got us into the rooms spirit of adventure. We started in a pitch black room and had to feel around for flashlights so we could then find clues/puzzles and a key to unlock the light switch. Such a unique start to a room that Ive never had before! I really enjoyed it here and will be back

Super fun place, especially for people who have never done an escape room before! It might feel a little expensive going into it, but the price tag is understandable, considering the effort and detail they put into their rooms. We really enjoyed the teamwork that the puzzles required and the good balance of realism (enough to be creepy, but not enough to make you wet yourself or unable to continue). Definitely keep an eye out for coupons and discounts!

Great experience for the family. There were puzzles simple enough for kids around 8 years old and more complex puzzles for the adults. It was nice to have a room where all the puzzles were in working order and in excellent condition. JD introduced us to our esacpe room and scenario. He was the best host weve encountered at any escape room! Thank you!

The minute I walked I was ready to escape. The building has a strong odor, like stale cigarettes, and it was not well maintained. The waiting area was dusty and in need of a deep clean the bathroom was even worse. The toilet obviously had not been cleaned in weeks or longer. Overall In need of serious repairs but a good scrubbing would be a simple thing to make a big difference! My family did the lair of lunacy room which was mostly enjoyable but we did need several clues. The most frustrating thing...
is that they only give you 4 flashlights (you have to find them in the dark) that are tiny and barely work. That meant that not everyone could participate for the full game not a big hit with the kids especially when they are feeling a little uneasy in the dark! I have seen several reviews here with the same complaints so I really don t understand why the owners haven t made a simple adjustment by adding flashlights and keeping fresh batteries in them. Definitely spend your money on another escape room there are much better options than this!

A LOT funner than expected. Very thoughtfully created environment and realistic props combined with a fantastic guide (we had their manager Clay) made it feel even more real. Theres plenty of physical searching for clues that children of any age would enjoy. Solving the mystery took all of our best thinking and kept our older children (ages 16-26) actively engaged. Even after we thought we had it solved, our Ph.D student son had us all busy re-fact checking. Great family activity!

We just did The Infiltrator room tonight and had a lot of fun. The puzzles were challenging, which made it so everyone was helping and working together! We were talking about the room all of the way home. Thanks for having such a fun place and activity for us to do together!

We had a great time here! Brought our family, boys ages 11, 10, 8 amd did the CSI room. They thought it was the best family night ever! Staff was helpful and engaging, room was challenging and fun! Thanks for a great night!

I did not love this one. We were left in the dark, literally. I would not have done the laboratory room if I had known the only light would be from the 4 tiny flashlights that we had to find and werent much help because they needed new batteries. Instructions were vague and the hints were seldom. I was really not a fan of this room, it was small, dark , and there wasnt ventilation. The prices for other companies are the same if not better, I will not be returning here.

There was only four flashlights for the seven of us, the room was really hot and had a faint bad smell. Puzzles were okay, but some were a long stretch. it was okay overall.

Our family (ages 10-adult) has enjoyed many escape rooms, and The Escape Key is certainly one of the best experiences we have had. The rooms are fun and engaging, challenging but not unrealistically hard. We did one room, and came back to do the rest within a few weeks. They were serious about cleanliness and hygiene too, which made me feel very safe while there. Highly recommend!

We won the CSI room with two minutes to spare! We have been to many escape rooms from Provo to Salt Lake, and this was a good one! The puzzles were challenging but had good flow and storyline. And for this one you got to use your cellphones which gave a cool twist. Our host McKinley was awesome. She was available to clarify a few things when we asked, but it was subtle & we still felt like we solved it without much help.(It s the worst when you get stuck on something that doesn t matter, but that...
didn t happen here.) It did feel lower-budget compared to others we have tried- not as elaborate or spacious. But we were fine with it for the price! Over all it was a great experience, we would definitely recommend it to people new to the Escape Room experience.

I ve been here twice now and each time has been great! The first time was with my family and we did the CSI room. It was fun and we almost solved it. Needed 2 more minutes! The second time was with my 12yr old daughter and her 5 friends. They did the Lair of Lunacy. They finished it with 10 minutes to spare! It was great that the girls were able to go into the room without me and I was able to watch them on an iPad. I d highly recommend this place to all my friends.

Super fun! I think our group was a little big for the scenario. Id suggest around 4 people, at least for the Russia one.

Seriously so much fun!! Went with three other couples so there were 8 of us in the most difficult room. We made it out with 4 and a half minutes to spare. Great intro story, challenging clues, set up well, and nicely planned out. Liked it so much I sent my 5 kids to it a couple weeks later. A big hit for them also! Would recommend Escape Key to anyone looking for a fun activity.

I brought my wife and 3 girls ages 15, 13, and 10 and we LOVED IT! We did the Lair of Lunacy and it was very entertaining and challenging. I was very pleasantly surprised and loved the creativity weaved into the experience. Staff were friendly and fun. The kids want to do it again asap!
