Having done all three of the offered escape games at time of writing (The Midnighters, Quest for Freedom, and 2048), I can say each one was more fun than the last. Each adventure is one hour, and you are entirely private in your booking. No hot dropping people from other parties! The price as far as escape rooms go are entirely fair. These are less showy rooms than what you might find in something like The Escape Game, but this is honestly for the best. This is significantly more about the puzzles...
themselves, with tons of mood and props to set the stage. All three rooms have multiple rooms inside to them, which makes it a joy to find and discover everything. Nothing feels overly mean or too difficult, and all the puzzles are pretty cleverly laid out and fun to work with. If I could drop a quarter of a star I would, solely because some of the props that are wired arent exactly working as they should (some of the candles in A Quest for Freedom are a bit dim and you cant tell if its on or not, for example), but nothing that actually impedes proper gameplay. However even with this Id still keep it at a solid 5 star rating. Honestly, just a great time. I would gladly do more rooms if they had any! I will definitely be back with my friends the moment they add a room or switch one up. Grab some food in the city, hit this place up with some friends, and get out of those rooms!

Along with our 2 kids (5 and 8), we had a great time in the Quest for Freedom room! We escaped with a little time remaining. No red-herring clues and no broken elements. Dane was a great game master. Thanks for a great rainy day activity!

Had a very good time, but not a great time. We did the 2084 game. The gamemaster did a great job. We beat the game with maybe 8 min to spare. It s easy to sit here criticizing, don t want to give the impression that it wasn t fun, it was. But I selected this room based on a review saying it was the best room in Philly (and I hope that isn t true). No spoilers here. But anyways, I like to give constructive feedback, so here are the criticisms: -general design/ambiance is good, but nothing goes...
the extra mile. Not many things had the wow factor, though a few of the tricks required to solve the puzzle were interesting. But they were not too hard to figure out which made them feel too planned -the puzzles were mostly numbers/letter solvers with minimal flavor / roleplaying built in. I felt that the 2084 theme could have gone deeper in terms of how the players interacted with the room. -the room is pretty small. I get it that space is limited and cost need to be kept down. I d rather pay more for a more elaborate experience, but I understand that most would not.

I went with my girlfriend to Midnighters. This was our very first escape room experience and we had an amazing time. The story was fun and engaging. The puzzles were thought out; and the set of the story was realistic. We did not know quite what to expect or how to go about completing the room so we did not escape but we had loads of fun. The overall facility was clean and the staff was friendly and kept it interesting! We definitely would try other escape room with Olde City Escape Games.

Best escape adventure Ive done, yet. Did the Freedom room with Brookes as the guide. Our party was 7 adults and 3 kids (8-11yo) and everyone was able to contribute and have fun. Puzzles and decor were very well done. Excellent theme and activities were a great mix of analog and tech-assisted. Fun National Treasure / Dan Brown feel. Great activity when visiting the cultural icons of Philly.

Our family loves escape games and Olde City did not disappoint. We did the Quest for Freedom with our 8 and 10 year old and there was plenty for everyone to do and it was super fun! Wish we lived closer so we could try the other rooms!! Highly recommend!!

I would definitely recommend Olde City Escape Games to a friend! We did Quest for Freedom and it was challenging! The 5 of us barely made it out with 30 seconds to spare! They offer unlimited clues and we used 3.

It was my first time at Olde City Escape and it certainly did not disappoint! We had such a great time! I would definitely recommend leaving extra early as finding parking is quite the hassle, but it is SO worth it. My sister and I did the 2084 room and made it out with 5 minutes to spare, only owing to the help of our GameMaster Ezra who recognized a few times when we were stuck and gave us just enough of a nudge to get our gears turning again. The theming was fantastic, the puzzles were fun, challenging, and engaging, and the overall vibe of the place was very inviting. I would love to come back and take on the other rooms! One of the best escape room places I ve been to!

A great time! We did their room 2084 with a group of 3, which was the perfect mix of difficulty and fun. Our guide, Ezra, was chill, kind, and knowledgeable, which made the process easy. And it was a nice, chill vibe which is different than other places I have tried with more frenetic or chaotic styles -- its great to have variety! Would absolutely recommend. Plus, they are located by a ton of great restaurants and other Philly attractions. Thanks for a fun evening!

Id never experienced an escape room before, and had my doubts about them in general. Didnt sound like my sort of thing. Olde City Escape Games way exceeded my expectations. We went on a Sunday with two adults and two boys, ages 10 and 7. The history room is the one that most suited the boys, and they LOVED it. I will say these kids are smarter than most 7 and 10 year olds (I can say that because theynot my kids) so any younger than that would probably be too young. This was an expensive one-hour excursion, but worth the money.

Great fun. No shame in not completing the escape - the puzzles were not easy! Very cleverly done, really interesting connections that you have to figure out. Lots of clues, but how do they work together. We were a group of 5 which I thought was a pretty good number. We had a great time, even though we were ask disappointed in getting close but not quite getting it done.

Very friendly and engaging host. We came 20 minutes late but they accommodated us very well and had an awesome experience with the American Revolution Themed Escape Room. Will come again and highly recommend.

Our group of 8 (ages 12 to 40-something) had a great time in A Quest for Freedom. There were a variety of objects and puzzles for us to interact with. Good quality and details in the setting and theme. Everyone was able to contribute and collaborate, culminating in a satisfying ending. Staff was friendly. We will return to try their other rooms.

This is the best escape room place in Philadelphia and the surrounding area, and Ive been to all of them. The staff is exceptional. All three rooms they offer here are great, and I would rank them as The Midnighters > A Quest for Freedom > 2089. In fact, The Midnighters is the BEST escape room I have ever done. It is a solid 10/10. Quest for Freedom would be 8/10, and 2089 would be a 7/10. 2089 is really neat, but some of its puzzles are incredibly obtuse, and there is a lot of artifical challenge...
baked into it that doesnt make a lot of sense, especially towards the end of the game. Still, its a great room and experience. The Midnighters is a flawless escape room and easily the best and most well-designed escape room Ive ever done. I dont want to spoil a thing other than to say it is an experience everyone should try. A Quest for Freedom is also really, really good. I just love this place, the staff, and the overall experience every time Ive been here. An easy 5 stars. Like I said, Ive been to all the escape room places in Philly and the surrounding area. Olde City Escape Games is the best.

SO much fun!! So creatively orchestrated, and we all couldn t stop patting ourselves on the back afterward and talking about how cool all the puzzles were! Can t wait to go back sometime for a special occasion with more family/friends to do another room! Sean (Shawn?) was wonderful when we did the 2084 room! Very highly recommended!!

We had a great time at 2084 this weekend. The puzzles were challenging without being being painfully difficult. They had some very creative features and many required collaboration. We had 4 people and that was just the right number for that room. Our guide Ezra was friendly and helpful and was a great host. I will definitely be back to try the other rooms!

My family went for my birthday celebration and none of us had done an escape room. We had a lot of fun and loved the creativeness of The Midnighters. With some help we made it to the very last puzzle!
