Side Quest Escape Games Portland

My husband and I were in Portland for two days and made it a priority to do this escape room after hearing about it on a podcast. This is one of the most unique escape room experiences I have ever been to. First off, the scenario given was not one I had ever seen before, and we have done a lot of escape rooms! The entertainment value was excellent (we solved it with about 30 seconds left), the amount of hints given was appropriate for what we asked for, and we learned a lot about emergency preparedness from the escape room and directly from the owner, Tyler, after we finished. I highly recommend this escape room!

This was my first escape room experience, and it did not disappoint. My office did this as a fun team building activity after a long day of meeting. It was super fun, and really convenient that the escape room is mobile, and came to our location. Highly recommend!

Dont let the trailer fool you, this is a legit escape room. Weve done over 300 now and this is among the best. The theme is obviously unique and the environment is immersive. The puzzles are fun and relevant, but also highly educational. Yes, you read that correctly, this is an educational escape room. We had 2 adults and 6 kids experience the Shaky Grounds Cafe escape room and everyone loved it. Definitely had the kids hooked on escape rooms. The space is so well thought out and constructed given its size. The attention to detail with regards to puzzles and set design is top notch and strikes a great balance between making the environment feel believable while still playable. This might have been one of the funnest escape rooms I have done. It was challenging yet still gave me hope I could accomplish it. The room was air conditioned which was awesome. The props and puzzles were really fun to use and mess with. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely fantastic. An incredibly fun and educational experience. A fun stressful test for a very likely real world situation. 30/10 -- would recommend and do again!!!

Shaky Grounds Cafe is an amazing room, probably the best we ve done (and we ve done 10+ across 5 states)! Every step felt so satisfying, and there were quite a few novel aha moments with unique prop usage. I normally have something negative to say about escape rooms usually there s at least one clunky clue or some odd pacing, but there was nothing like that in this room. I can t recommend it enough!

Great room, actually an appropriate level of difficulty for a few adults to work on together. Lots of interesting puzzles, great theme, some actually useful knowledge that goes with it all too! Overall had a great time, even though we didnt technically finish in time, was a ton of fun.

Me and my family did this great escape room with our cousins as well. The host Tyler (who had a awesome hat) was very friendly and passionate about the escape room. I fully recommend doing this escape room if your in the area, every thing worked perfectly and the puzzles were fun. PS: the room is a little small so dont bring a hord of people in there. Try it with about 6 people tops.

The coolest way to learn about emergency preparedness ever. Whether you re interested in the topic or not, this escape room is so engaging and fun. Cool puzzles that get your brain going, opportunities to communicate with teammates, and a unique experience that literally starts before you step into the door. Plus, it can come to you! Highly recommend checking this mobile escape room out when / where you can.

Awesome escape game. You might be skeptical that it s in a trailer but it was actually the most intricate, fun, and entertaining game we have done. It feels spacious inside. Very family friendly, our 9 year old loved it. Would definitely do again!

4 of us played the game, and it was awesome! The puzzles were very engaging, and there were a lot of games packed into that hour, many of which we could split up and do at the same time. Tyler even added local flare to the games, and was a great host. Definitely one of the top escape rooms Ive seen, dont miss out!

Read full review that required people multiple hands. We also were occupied the entire time with a bit of a lull only at the end when we were down to two final puzzles. This escape room is also unique being in a mobile trailer (so you can rent it for events!). It looks small from the outside, but packs a large experience with two rooms and a high amount of objectives. The theme was, without spoiling it, very practical and realistic and you actually walk away with some useful knowledge. Overall, its great value, has high puzzle volume, perfect pacing, a variety of difficulty levels, and satisfied my group which consisted of beginners and veterans. I highly recommend it!

Our management group did a team activity here and absolutely loved it! Tyler is SO knowledgable and creative with his space. This is definitely a premium room with what Id consider film set quality, sensory invoking detail, and well-thought out puzzles. More than half of our group had never done an escape room but were able to almost complete the storyline. All the first timers are hooked! Other highly valuable bonuses include the emergency preparedness piece and that the room is mobile! Businesses looking to add fun and emergency preparedness to their team docket should highly consider this as an event!

Our family had a great time. Two of us had done escape rooms before and 2 novices. It was definitely challenging and fun, plus educational. We didnt finish, but were close! The space itself is super well done, extremely creative and detail oriented. I was blown away! I definitely recommend. It was a great way to start out our 2023. One of the best (if not the best) escape rooms Ive played! The set design is engaging (youll never know youre in a trailer!) and the clues are all thematically aligned - this isnt your regular padlocks that lead you to more padlocks escape room. There are plenty of puzzles that can be solved at the same time so everyone in the group can be active at the same time. All of the behind the scenes technical and mechanical components that make the puzzles work are flawless (sometimes glitches in the mechanics at other escape rooms make you feel like youre not doing it right.... not here!). Added bonus: You learn about emergency preparedness along the way! Im definitely keeping an eye out for more escape rooms from Side Quest Escape Games!

This escape room was soo fun! This was the first escape room for most of our group and we had a blast. It was very well designed and it was cool to come away with some practical knowledge about earthquake preparedness. Would highly recommend.

We had a great time! Have done lots of escape rooms in the past and this one is one was one of the most fun weve experienced, with an added twist of being educational (you learn a lot about emergency preparedness as you go through the puzzles). Luckily the owner of the escape room was also very nice and flexible; our party was late due to some bad traffic and he accommodated us Would definitely recommend to anyone in the Portland area!

LOVE!! This was such a fun and unique experience. Having played over 100 Escape Games Ive never experienced one quite like this and I left with real world knowledge about emergency preparedness - which Im still thinking about! The puzzles were clever and engaging. Its also mobile but you dont feel like youre in a small/ confined space at all. Highly recommend!

Excellent escape room, on par with many others that Ive done in town. The added bonus of learning some disaster resilience skills (without feeling like youre in a classroom lecture) is icing on the cake

This place was so amazing and fun for our group of 6! Parked right in Oaks Park parking lot, it might have been my favorite escape room to do ever! Definitely interested in doing another one made by the same owner! You won t regret it!
