Escapism: Alien Zoo, Malice Manor & Funky Lab Escape Rooms Portland

My partner and I had an amazing time. Mythius is an incredible host, and was so kind and funny. We did the Funky Laboratory, the attention to detail and puzzle design is so brilliant. And the opening is really cool. If you go you will have an incredible time. I also got the Escape Passport too.

My wife and I did Malice Manor. We got an email that said the employees requested to be open on Thanksgiving and we were so thankful to have an escape room to go to! Andrew was our host and was nothing short of amazing. We have done 65+ rooms and he was one of the best hosts we have ever had. The room was very fun with clever puzzles. Andrew made it very special, he was attentive, and made sure we had the best time possible. We had previously done Alien Zoo, which was also fun, but Malice Manor was deliciously macabre.

We did my daughters 11th birthday party at Malice manor. We really enjoyed ourselves, it was our first time in an escape room, but it was very fun the staff was great and very accommodating. There was 8 of us 2 adults and 6 kids ranging from 11 to 12 years of age. Long story short we had a fantastic time.

Had a wonderful experience here and a great escape just in the nick of time! The room was both challenging and fun. Our host was all in and made this escape attempt truly enjoyable. We did the Funky Laboratory which was very creative and had lots of clues making it fun for our entire group of 5. Looking forward to trying another one of their rooms soon!

This was our first escape room. We went as a family of 9 and did Malice manor. It was the right kind of challenging for us and our host was amazing. We will definitely be back! Plus the fact that you could easily leave the room if needed really helped my extremely claustrophobic husband, he didnt have any issues at all.

Alien Zoo was a lot of fun. We probably could have done a somewhat more challenging room this time around, but we wanted an easier intro for my friend who was visiting Portland, and it was his first escape room. I liked that it eschewed the symbol locks; the previous room my sister and I had done used rather a lot of those. This had more variety.

Me and 8 others did Malice Manor tonight! We were a mix of newbies and and experienced people. The escape room was fun and challenging! The theming was really cool and properly spooky. We got out with 4 minutes remaining. Everyone had a really great time! Mythius ran our room and did a really great job. 10 out of 10, would recommend!

The manager was super cool. Our team got there early and he was able to accommodate a change in time which we are thankful for! Alien zoo is such a fun concept, we liked the room a lot. Puzzles are cohesive, the room is fairly big so I think it works better for teams of 3+ people. They have a small parking lot which was great! Loved the building front with it being a small house that s renovated to Escape rooms.

The Manor escape room was perfect! So well put together, so maybe interesting mechanisms and reveals. Super creepy! Definitely challenging for two people but fun regardless. Mythius was so helpful and even called beforehand to check in about difficulty levels. Hope to return!

Alien Zoo was one of the most creative rooms weve done. Concept was fun, puzzles were very clever without feeling overwhelming, and Mythius (Nova) did a great job as game master. Great room for a beginners and experienced players alike.

We hosted my sons 12th birthday party in the Funky Laboratory last weekend, and we had a blast! We had 4 kids aged 11-12 and 2 adults, and that felt like the right sized group. The clues were challenging, but each of us solved at least one big puzzle, and it was major excitement when a lock opened or a part of the story was uncovered. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our outing to this escape room, group of 10 friends, did the Manor room. We only have done a couple of escape rooms before, this one has a cool ghostly vibe. We would recommend that you go as a larger group because there were a bunch of puzzles to solve. The attendant was helpful with hints, when we asked. Read full review before our time, but he never said anything to us, until it was after our time, then he said you all will not get the whole hour because its after your time. We all said, dude, we have been waiting for you. Maybe, he is just a no nonsense kind of guy, but he did give us hints when we asked and told us what we missed after. All in all a FUN night out. Just as an added note this is NOT an ADA friendly place, stairs are required.

The Alien Zoo room is so much fun! A great way to celebrate and have fun with your loved ones. The level of difficulty is great, where it s possible to beat it without hints but you can ask for as many as you may need. Our host Mythius was especially helpful and friendly, I reccomend!

Went here for date night and did the alien zoo room. Very fun and the employees were very interactive and funny. The room decor and the puzzles were good and not too hard. The only feedback is it was hard to tell colors of certain puzzles because of the lighting.

Super fun! We did Alien zoo and just made it out in time. The story and set up were good and it was nice to be able to ask for help a few times! We will be back for the other rooms!

Malice Manor was a spooky good time for my teen son and me. We got through it with a little help from our host Mythias, with no time to spare! This was our 3rd Escapism experience, and the first time we successfully escaped.

Our staff went there and worked well together to escape the Alien Zoo. The staff was very friendly and helpful and dressed up to become one of the roles in our game. She was a joy to have guide us.

Great rooms! Plenty of puzzles for a large group, not super linear so everyone can work on their own and put together

Me and a group of friends did Malice manner and it was such a good time. Mathias really made the room feel realistic and was really in character and made it enjoyable. Thank you!

Creative & challenging quest, great host. We were a last-minute booking & they graciously accommodated us. Until this booking with Escapism, we had only used Escapology because we knew we wouldnt be disappointed with Escapology. Escapism is of the same caliber, so well be back next time I visit Portland. Great to know we have this new option.

This was my first escape room experience so I wasnt 100% sure what to expect. It was very enjoyable and the game master was friendly and helpful.

The Malice Manor was creepy and frightening! The props in the room were excellent making the room seem like it was haunted. Cant wait to go back to experience Funky Laboratory. Stand back 6 feet and get ready here we come! the host was marvelous...

Funky Laboratory was definitely worth the wait. We had to sneak into a building located in East Portland and found out that it was Dr. Zylchov apartment. There were cats everywhere meowing, purring, and even hissing at us while we were trespassing. We solved all the clues and puzzles, and found the gem which will be the fifth industrial revolution as we speak. In the background, with the help of Dr. John Whitedust and his posse. Escapism played the central role in a team-building afternoon I setup with co-workers. Booking was super easy - I could have done this all online but preferred to call and email. Their folks are friendly and informative. The location on Weidler Street had two rooms that could accommodate my group of 17, so we chose this location. The lobby is a smidge cramped with a group of this size, but it all worked out! The hour for each room went by quick. The rooms were well thought-out and done...

The Funky Laboratory was a great room! Really fun puzzles, cool props, and challenging! We finished, but we definitely needed a few hints. There was only one sudden movement in the room, and nothing scary. Id give it five stars except for one thing: all of the props had a sticky film on them, presumably due to years of Febreze or other cleaning sprays. So, we felt confident that everything was sanitized! But it was a little blechy.

Staff was wonderful, the Malice Manor room was super fun and just the right kind of challenging. This was our second escape room ever, and we had such a great time! Well be back soon to try the other rooms for sure, 10/10 would recommend!

My family of 8 had a great time at the Alien Zoo room! We had to ask for a few hints, it was great that the hints were still broad so it never felt like we were cheating by asking for help. We made it out with only 2 minutes to spare which was definitely an adrenaline rush! My kids (6 & 8) really enjoyed it and we re definitely able to participate and actively contribute knowledge when solving puzzles. Thanks for the fun memory!

My 13-year old son and I had such a blast at the Alien Zoo. The room details and scenario were great and the puzzles were challenging without being too frustrating. Our host was great and added to the adventure without being intrusive. We escaped just in the nick of time!

We did the Malice Manor room and it was super fun: obviously a lot of thought and creativity went into the puzzles, but with 8 people in our group we solved it with a few minutes to spare. We had a great time and will be returning! Only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was because the host was a little off putting, but we all still had a great time.
