Last Friday a group of co-workers and I went to the OTR escape room and we had a blast. We found the room challenging and very well laid out. The downtown location was easy to find and offered a ton of eating choices afterwards. We had a bunch of fun just trying to get a consensus of which one to try. All in all it was a very fun evening and we will be back.

Small area to sit, but doesn t matter since we didn t have to wait more than couple minutes. There could be a couple more improvements such as the timer that kind of shut off during our time, kept going but we didn t know how much Time was left. Simple design but still challenging. I would definitely be willing to try their second room. This was. By far the least expensive place and well worth the money. Spending more than $25 may be overkill for many, this is a great option for the price!

Ive done a dozen or so escape rooms at various places. This one was a bit more subtle in the way it pieced together its clues, so challenging in that respect, but we were given a few more than our allotted 3 clues to get through (which we appreciate, because we were struggling). That said, only rated 4/5 because nothing over-the-top or incredibly immersive like other experiences. Will still be back to play other rooms!

We had a great time at OTR escape and they delivered all the basics you would expect from an escape room. The reason for 3 stars is that the rooms decoration and immersion is very basic. If youve ever been to The Escape Game rooms then this will not be up to the same standard. Several props were also over worn or non working.

Not the best quality escape room. Staff left the keys to all the locks in our escape room . DVD we watched before our escape room explaining our objective skipped a bunch and our group didnt even bother listening. Wouldnt go to again.

Very hard rooms and sometimes the locks dont work even if you have the correct combination so the staff have to come in and help open them. Still a lot of fun!

They waited until we showed up at our 11:20 pm appointment and told us that they had to cancel but also said they wanted to wait until we got there to tell us they had to cancel. Kind of a shady place

If I could give it a no stars I would, I am disgusted with how our experience went. The older man who was directing our tour was unbelievably rude. He yelled at us. Literally yelled at us when she couldn t hear him. He came into the room because we had already figured a clue out that he was aware or simply paying attention to us. He stormed into the room told the girls to move! He yelled for them to bring the ring to him. He slammed items onto the table in the second room. And to top it all off...
the last code we needed to unlock the cabinet, Was a code for the skull and it was wrong. The locations for the numbers were wrong. We all work in the medical field and know our anatomy pretty well and the code does not match with the correct placement of the skull. I will never Recommend this facility and I will be making a public review online for all to see. This was absolutely ridiculous. He ruined the entire experience.

Had an extremely frustrating experience this past Saturday. My daughter turned 17 and wanted to celebrate with a few of her friends. We booked reservations for sushi & OTR Escape was to follow. Before booking, I checked the FAQs on their website to make sure an adult didnt need to be there with them since they were all under 18. According to their website it reads, Is there an age limit? - We have games that fit most age ranges. However, if you are under 14 years of age, you must be...
signed-in by a guardian. The guardian does not have to play. To me this means, my 17 year old would be fine to check herself and her friends in, without an adult present. What happened though was quite the contrary. We received a phone call from our daughter informing us that they were not allowed to check themselves in and that an adult needed to come back to OTR in order for them to play. This made no sense because their own website makes no mention of kids under 18. I called and spoke to an employee who confirmed what my daughter was telling us. I told him that prior to booking, I checked their website which says that only kids under 14 needed a parent to check them in. The employee went on to tell me about how its a safety issue and that if something happens to our kids , they would be liable and that we as the parents would come after them? I told him I understood that it could be a safety issue but I read him exactly what their website said. He said the policy is what it is and that he would bring it to the owners attention. I asked if I could give verbal or even written (email) confirmation as we were no longer downtown and traffic was terrible due to FCs opening game. He said no and said if we did not come back down , they could not let our kids play (mind you, I already paid $125 in order to book the room days prior). My wife & I made our way back down to OTR. We were offered zero apologies for the inconvenience or for the fact that their website had incorrect information on it. I hate writing reviews but this really was a frustrating experience that could have put a damper on my daughters birthday celebration if we were unavailable to come back to check them in. I understand if that is their policy but their website should reflect that policy & not have incorrect information on it.

My escape team is a group of 4 friends and we have done 16+ rooms together. Our experience at OTR Escape was excellent! It was the most low-tech room weve ever done, but we actually enjoyed that. The elements were thematic and clever. We broke out of Santas Workshop Heist and had a blast doing it. I would highly recommend doing this room and we cant wait to go back and do the other rooms.

Terrible. We did the looper. The design was insanely cheap items broken in the room, the dvd in the beginning that gives instructions skipped, and a few puzzles came out of left field with absolutely no connection or simply didn t work at all. The candle thing? How would we have ever known to try that? There was nothing in the room tying the candles to the theme. The employee gave us clues but some were literally the answers/codes to locks. A clue should be guidance, not giving us the answer...
. Not creative, not engaging, not fun..and the room was hot. Save your money unless you just want to pay to unlock a bunch of random locks. We escaped but we couldn t get out of there fast enough. And the employee waited around awkwardly for a tip. Do no recommend.

We booked the looper tonight after 10. The woman was extremely rude and wearing pajamas. The room was super hard and our game master was rude about giving clues. We recieved no welcome and no encouragement after failing. The room was insanely difficult and the staff sucked.

I went with my family to OTR Escape and we had a blast!! The room was well set up and the mystery was amazing! The staff is very friendly and the adventure was one of the best I ve done. I will definitely recommend this to everyone! We all plan on going back and doing the other rooms they have. Plus the location is perfect! You can walk from there to restaurants and bars.

Not a great experience, would not recommend. On two separate occasions during our 60:00 the employees had to come in because something did not work properly. In addition, they didn t even realize we finished the room at the end and we had to navigate our way from the second story to the desk and tell them we were done. Super unorganized. The room was just... ok. My group and I have been to many other escape room locations in Cincinnati that are definitely worth the price, this one however was not even close.

Worst experience I ve ever had at an escape room and I ve been to several different ones. Absolutely no creativity was put into the room we did (Backstage Pass). We asked for clues at least two separate times and got no response. When we didn t escape they didn t even bother to tell us how it was supposed to end. The lady working the desk was nice but she said she was there alone and didn t have time to explain. It s a shame they can t even hire enough people to work there to make it a good experience. Will never waste my money here again.

It wasn t all that great. Wasn t completely awful but not as nice as other escape rooms companies. The rooms are empty and the puzzles are just things to the wall. Like there are no furniture or real life things to look through for clues. And the guess the number games didn t work and we had to waist a clue to bypass it after waiting 20minutes of trying it. We figured out the right number every time, just broken, possibly rigged lol. Also the building just seems dirty besides the lobby. Kind of makes since they don t want any photography because they don t want customers to know what the rooms actually look like lol We did the game room one!

My son and his four friends just did the bank robbery room. They have collectively done all of the rooms at breakout so I wanted them to try a new place and found OTR escape. I personally was hoping for a room with nicer props than breakout (only did the casino room but was disappointed that it looked like a room in my grandmas basement). I didn t go into the room with them this time (to save my hearing, five teenage boys are loud!) but they said it was definitely low budget. That is where the criticism...
ends though. First of all, we received a friendly greeting from Frank, possibly the most patient guy ever. We were 45 mins early and he let them start right away (Thanks Frank!) The kids all thought this was their favorite room, that the puzzles were inventive and impressive, and they really enjoyed the interactions they had with Frank. Well done OTR escape and a special shoutout to Frank for going above and beyond for our group. We will be back!

I have done several escape rooms in many cities and this was my worst experience. The video instructions didnt work. Almost all the puzzles were padlocks. The room had no character and felt cheap. It was also very warm in the room. Will not return.

My boyfriend and I did the splatter paint room and it was a lot of fun. We both love our canvases. The staff were soooo friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!!

Was very excited to do the Santa themed room. They will not honor a cincy saver certificate, even though the fine print clearly states it isn t one of the rooms it can t be used on. Very disappointing and makes this business look shady

First time ever doing an escape room, I had such an amazing time was harder then I expected. Went in thinking i got this , this will be easy lol how hard could it be . I fooled myself, I didn t escape on my last challenge. We got bounced. But it was extremely channeling & fun! A must do again lol. The staff were super friendly & helpful when it came to the clues which helped but didn t revel too much at the same time. Anyone looking to have a good time with friends or spouse, I highly recommend this place for you! Enjoy your escape!

If this is your first escape room, you may love it. It is certainly not a great room. My boyfriend and I did Looper. The concept was clever but it just didn t come together very well. It was ALL locks and clocks. Some of the puzzles were leaps in logic with no connections. It was not exciting and became tedious. I ve been in escape rooms with zero locks. If all your puzzles are locks, then you need to rethink your room. Please try escapeology, Houdini, or breakout for better and more exciting rooms in the Cincy area.

Intitally we had an issue with arriving and being told our night was cancelled. When we left a negative review about it, the owner of the company immediately reached out and made the situation right. We got to do the bank robbery at no charge. The owner was wonderful. We had a great time. Very challenging. Can t wait to try the looper the next time we are in the tri-state area.

Did Bank Robbery a couple of months ago and came back to do the Looper with my family. Had a great time and the staff was very personable. Can not wait to experience the new rooms.
