It was a great local attraction! The place is huge & has a lot of cool experiences. However, the few things that took you out of the experience were the frequent stops and Disney style operation due to the amount of people in a certain area. If it flowed more fluidly I might have been scared. (Im an avid horror movie & haunted house buff) I still enjoyed my time. Tip: if the operators could be dressed up too and make them more apart of the attraction, you would get more chills & thrills. Highly recommend a creepy hype man before you go in. As it was I dont recommend little children attending. I was surprised to see parents bringing a 5year old. Needless to say they had to leave the attraction.
We did the curse of the tomb escape room yesterday and it was definitely one of my fav escape rooms ever, if not the most fav! The room vibe was fantastic and overall very well designed. Will return to try other rooms soon!
Lots of fun, had trouble finding the entrance but overall a good place to do an indoor activity during winter.
Ive done my fair share of escape rooms and wow was this bad. Every aspect of every part of the room was a poor attempt at a possibly good idea. Its a shame because you can totally see what they were trying to get at but gave up halfway. This escape room is the worst in a 30 mile radius. Any other one is better. You can also tell this was an afterthought. They have a haunted house, which Ive never been to, and it seems like they wanted to jump on the escape room bandwagon without actually putting the effort into execution. Save your time and go somewhere else
Went with my bf recently to play the Subway. The sets are super impressive and the puzzles were really fun. Our game master Angelina was telling us 2 more games are on the way. Cant wait!
I saw some reviews and were skeptical since the mentions of sketchy area, old props, and hot room were mentioned. Honestly, those reviews are just unfortunate because the parking availability was good, props are part of the concept & matching the environment, and the room temperature is solid (idk what kinda vip treatment these bad review people were looking for, there s an ac inside for the escape room lol) Communication was good & overall we had fun! It was challenging for sure. One thing I would say is, a little storytelling would boost the mood for the escape room motivation. That s about it. We had fun Dunkin donuts being right by there was good too and a beautiful park nearby to walk afterwards.
The narrator was horrible- the clues were not great at all. There was another escape room right next to us going on at the same time so the narrator had to talk to each of us and it got confusing. You could hear everything being said to the other room. The Tomb you had to crawl in dirty sand to get to the next room through a small opening a couple of times. Not great for your clothes and for anyone larger than a 5 foot 5 150 lb person. Overall a waste of money
I really enjoyed the haunted house it was the escape rooms that need help. But the staff is great and really put their heart in it . Great job
The Escape Rooms are amazing! Great design, fun and challenging the way a real escape game should be. If you want a great experience with high intensity situations to solve then look no further. Brighton Asylum Escape Rooms are where it is at!
Great quality escape rooms. We have done 2 of them. Will return for the 3rd. The haunted house is great.
We had a great time doing room 1408 Makes you really think, and got pretty tricky but still a fun room. Location was sketchy but definitely fit the vibe of the place
Awesome escape rooms with movie quality sets! 1408 was a little challenging but our game master Rich was really helpful!
Hands down our FAV escape room! The first one we did was the tombs and it was so so good that we ended up coming back every other weekend and did all their rooms! Very well made rooms and challenging enough. Highly recommend! Can t go wrong with anyone!
I unfortunately cannot recommend this place. We were very excited to come and drove all the way from NY to experience the escape room and axe throwing. 1. The escape room. We werent told about how to reset the lock and even after we attempted the correct code multiple times, it did not work. The worker had to come in and even he had to try it multiple times before it worked. One of the steps in the tunnel did not work and caused confusion. You can hear clues being given to other rooms which caused...
confusion. Overall, it was just not a good escape room experience (and weve been to multiple). 2. Axe throwing. This is where our group just had enough - after the bad experience with the escape room, the axe throwing was just unacceptable. All of us have been axe throwing multiple times in multiple different locations and we have never, ever been to one where 1) the axe was so blunt most of us were unable to get any to stick. We even went up to the board to try to test it and it still wasnt sticking. 2) the axes would ricochet back across the room, way past the line - which is a huge safety hazard that we have never ever experienced at other locations. When we had enough of the terrible axe throwing experience and wanted to talk to a worker, we had to walk around and try (unsuccessfully) to find someone. What if someone had gotten hurt? Or just needed help? The owner that we had to reach out to for a refund for the unacceptable experience wasnt even there at the venue but told us how we were completely wrong, tried to give us an over the phone tutorial and tell us that his employees are not trained and do not know what theyre doing. The employees, to their credit, did tell us that they had multiple complaints on the axe throwing and the owner had ignored all the feedback. Not For nothing, even the group next to us had told us that they were not able to stick any axes and had difficulty with it as well. Lastly, the owner had offered 50% off but instead just refunded 34% of the package escape room and axe throwing deal. Then told us we were the ones lying...? It was honestly just a combination of bad set ups and even worse customer service on the part of the owner (you could tell the employees were just trying their best).
DO NOT GO HERE!!! Nothing works. The escape room has a lot of malfunctions to the point that the workers had to come in and struggle too. On top of that, another group was doing an escape room and you can hear their clues and it really messes with your game. The tiles were not working properly either. The pages in the books were ripped and could barely be seen. We also did axethrowing and it was even worse. The two employees even said that they tell the owner, Rich, that nothing works and he doesn...
t do anything about it. The axes were dull and the board were broken. The employees said that Rich has summer boards that work better but he hasn t put them up yet. Both employees were quick to throw Rich under the bus because he treats them horribly. We spoke to Rich over the phone and he was very rude and dismissive. After arguing for 30 minutes and him calling his employees untrained and uneducated, he promised us a 50% refund. Turns out he lied and gave us a 34% refund and when confronted he said he never said 50% even though we have it recorded. DO NOT GIVE THIS HORRIBLE PERSON ANY BUSINESS! Reply: Rich was not there and there was no instructions on the padlock. The employees agreed with us that this place is a scam. The folks in the other room doing axe throwing also left early and said it was a scam. It was not just us. We finished the escape room with ample time left but many of the components were defective. Again, the owner has a massive ego and will tell you how to properly throw an axe and that everyone including his workers are incompetent.
I don t recommend this place. I saw the other review about how hot it was inside, but took a chance on this place anyways. That was a huge mistake. It was 90 degrees outside today and it felt cooler outside than it did inside. We were full body sweating within 3 minutes of just standing in the first section of the escape room, making it incredibly hard to concentrate. We passed through escape room 1408 on our way out and I saw just one small portable A/C unit that said 60° but it 100% wasn t anywhere...
close to that temperature physically in that room maybe mid 80s at best. There wasn t even a portable unit in any section of the room we did (The Tomb.) If there was some form of A/C besides a portable unit like they say in their response to the other review, we didn t feel a thing. The escape room itself was fine. Well decorated but had convoluted clues in my opinion, and had worn down props that lead to a lot of confusion for us. Also beware dozens of tire-ending potholes when driving up from Brighton Ave to the warehouse area. And no official signage at either of the 2 visible doors and no one around in the general vicinity at the location you have to text a number back to have someone come out and get you. On our way out we ran into a poor soul who said he drove there all the way from New York. He looked about ready to leave cause he wasn t even sure if he was at the right location and questioned the legitimacy of the place when we told him he was at the right spot.
Brighton Asylum is by far the coolest attraction in New Jersey. Come get your pants scared off.
Loved it! Been to a couple escapes where you just go in a room and thats it, open some boxes and get out. Doing The Tomb was very interactive. Would love to check out some more when we get the chance. Also apologies to Brianna(sorry if I spell it wrong) and Justin for having to put up with me and partner. Definitely will be checking out the other rooms.
We ve done a lot of escape rooms. This one was one of the most immersive (Subway). We finished with just over 1 minute with 3 people. The kids loved it. Not just a bunch of padlocks like many places- we had a ton of fun. We can t wait to do the others! They also have other activities on site - axe throwing
We did room 1408 and had a fantastic time. Our game master, Wendee, was great also! The room is well thought out and has lots of interesting parts. Certainly makes you think about things! Highly recommend!
My friends and I did Room 1408- barely made it out in time!! It was so much fun! The new subway one is fun, too. We will definitely be back to try The Tombs!
The Tomb was an awesome experience. I dont want to throw spoilers out there but it definitely makes you feel like you are on an Indiana Jones adventure. A bit challenging but that is the point! Also different from the other escapes I have been to. I will definitely be back!
Brighton Asylum has an amazing atmosphere! Our group had a great time. Thank you for going above and beyond!! Friendly and professional staff.
I havent been here in 5 years and WOW, they have stepped it up! Well worth the experience and based on my experience several of my friends and family members will be going.
Had some issues with the combination lock and doors. But they were fixed shortly after we reported. We also got a full refund. Great customer service.
Great Escape Rooms, the location definitely fits the vibe. Puzzles were moderate but enjoyable. Definitely would recommend giving it a go.
The Brighton Asylum Escape Rooms are my favorite in the area! They are well thought out and not easy to get through. The staff is nice and the owner is very involved in his business. I highly recommend it.
Ive been going to Brighton Asylum since it opened and have never been disappointed. From the professionalism and friendliness of the actors to the scares and thrills of going through, the experience was phenomenal. Every year gets better and better.
Our game master David was an amazing help to us in the final 5 minutes of 1408! We will definitely be returning for The Tomb!
My friends and I had a great time, we played a game in 1408 it was so cool! The game master Jess is awesome!
