Best 50 minutes ever!! We went there with a group of friends, and it was more fun than any of us expected! Kingdom of night room was a challenge! we had a blast trying to prove one another who will solve the puzzle first It was just awesome - the door is almost like the wardrobe in Chronicles of Narnia. This is a great place to start your night or just spend time with friends you know or trying to get to know- talking about the puzzles kept us entertained throughout out the evening - its a great conversation starter too! We highly recommend! Ps. There is a game master in case you need a hint:)
We did the casino heist room and it was great! The clues were fun and it was great trying to solve everything. George was a great game master. We had a blast. Would 100% do it again
We went as a group of four and tried the casino heist room. The room was set in the 1930s and the attention to detail was very very cool. The clues were all different and intuitive and we had a lot of fun trying to crack them and escape. The Game master was also very fun and helped us out when we were stuck at one part. Will definitely try out the other room. :D
This was a fun way to spend an hour or so with friends. We did the Kingdom of Night room - which ended up being a Game of Thrones themed room. All of us are fans of the books (well, the first couple) and the show, so that was welcome. As a huge bonus, they didnt mix us with any other people here. It also didnt cost too much to have it that way (other places make you buy out all the other spots). George was our GM and he was awesome! He was helpful and seemed like he wanted us to succeed, making it a fun rather than frustrating experience. The puzzles were great - but there were just a couple that were huge logical jumps for us. Would love to come back and give the other room a shot!
My boyfriend and I did the casino heist escape room and we had so much fun! George was a wonderful game master, especially because we re beginners. He was very helpful without giving away the fun of finding the answer. Highly recommend this place for fun escape rooms!
We did the Kingdom of night room. Very disappointing room and game master experience. Would not recommend, especially for people who have done escape rooms before. - the room itself was not very interesting, clues were somewhat random and unintuitive. When we got stumped it was because a puzzle was pretty random. Multiple times the GM said extra context because the room design was confusing of unclear. - several clues were hard to read because they were worn down - one of the clues was open before...
we entered the second room - one clue jammed / didnt open after multiple attempts - GM gave us clues when we didnt ask for them, including multiple we would have figured out. and when we did often took 3-10m to respond with a clue because there was another game going or the clue button wasnt working. They put the time back on the clock, but we had to remember when we asked and often didnt remember, and got delayed in ending the game too.
We completed the Casino Heist room. Our team consisted of myself and three others. The game master, George, was phenomenal. The two times we had asked for a hint he was able to lead us in the right direction without outright giving away the solution which was much appreciated! I would recommend this specific room to anyone from beginners to intermediate skill level! The space itself was great. Good vibes and fun puzzles! Thanks again, George for the great experience!
As an escape room enthusiast, I was highly disappointed in the Kingdom of Night room. I will echo what others have said - the room itself was poorly constructed and had minimal decor. The puzzles were nonsensical and uninteresting. I can overlook all of that, but the main reason I gave this room one star is because the game master, George, was extremely overbearing. He kept giving us clues when we didn t ask for them and when we did ask for a clue he was not quick to respond. At one point, he even...
barged into the room and accused me of breaking one of the locks. I understand that he was the only employee at the time, but he was clearly overwhelmed as he started our game 20 minutes past our booking time. Overall, I would not recommend this room to anyone.
Had so much fun here, the gamemaster was also super nice and helpful. The set up was very fun, can be beginner friendly or more difficult!
I completed the Casino Heist room with my 12 year old twins and 8 year old. It was the very 1st escape room my kids have ever done. We had such a positive experience! The game master was super friendly and did a great job explaining the rules to these first timers. We were so pumped that we escaped! I would definitely recommend this place!
The Art of Escape Room in Chicago is an amazing place to have friends gathering! This place offers two rooms and we played them both. Both Casino Heist and Kingdom of Nights rooms have their own storyline and interesting puzzles. Game master was amazing, helpful and fun! Our group had a great time and a memorable experience. We highly recommend this place.
We did Kingdom of Night and unfortunately it was one of the worst escape rooms we have done. We have done over a dozen escape rooms together across Chicagoland and other cities in the US. The props and decorations were very sloppy and haphazard. It felt very slapped together and low budget with things just on paper stapled to the wall. The puzzles were not fun and a couple major ones were completely nonsensical leading to frustration. Good Escape room puzzles should be challenging but logical...
not arbitrary. It was also very linear which leads to there not being enough to do for a group of 4. Our game master was lovely but perhaps TOO helpful in giving us hints and clues we hadn t asked for. She is the reason I m giving this 2 stars instead of 1 because she was genuinely nice and kind and helpful. Fair warning to those who plan to play this room: It requires having seen the show Game of Thrones for one major puzzle. This is unfortunately just a bad escape room. I think it can be fixed if some of the puzzles are re-worked and some investment is made into the actual decor/props but you can tell this room was slapped together with very minimal investment or puzzle planning just to capitalize on the popularity of Game of Thrones. Do not recommend.
As avid escape room fans, we were very disappointed in this business. We did the game of thrones inspired room, and it is just not good. The decor and puzzles are mediocre, with materials that do not hold up and look cheap. Puzzles are not intuitive. Feels more like a DIY escape space if anything, unsure how they have so many 5 star ratings. The game master was very friendly and engaged, but was overly helpful, even when not asked. Lots of room for improvement.
Done tons of escape rooms honestly the kindest setup and fun escape rooms. George our game master was extremely funny warm and welcoming to our group. The have a great welcome room. Highly recommend for groups that are even visiting or tourists. Thanks guys.
First time in Chicago and loved this escape room. We did the casino heist one and it was super fun and Paxton was the amazing associate who helped us through the instructions! 10/10 would go again!
Went with a friend group of 5 and had a great time. Our game master George was great.
I highly recommend the casino heist- I took my kids (ages 5, 7 and 10) along with two other adults and we had a blast! The variety the game offered was amazing. The kids were fully engaged and look forward to completing other escape rooms. The game master and the interaction and use of technology was awesome.
This was a gift for a date and we really enjoyed the Casino Room. The Game Master was great and we escaped with minutes to spare. The puzzles were a good mix of intriguing and entertaining, especially since we are interested in all things Mafia related. We hope to be back for other rooms!
Excellent rooms! The puzzles in both Casino Heist and Kingdom of Night rooms were very tactile and made logical sense. It was easy to become immersed in the theme of each room. I love that they don t place you with other people and the room is still a good price. My husband and I like to do escape rooms without any other people and most companies make you buy all (usually 8) spots to do this, but not this one! I loved that both rooms were back to the basics of escape rooms where it was all about...
solving the puzzles and moving to the next step without any unnecessary technology. I also truly appreciated that the Game Masters only gave hints when we requested them. Kingdom of Night was a bit more difficult, but we were still able to escape with just the two of us. I have escaped from just over 30 rooms and both of these are in my top 5 favorites. I highly recommend either room.
We wanted to love this place so much, but were sorely disappointed. Our main complaints are threefold: 1. Room quality was very poor: faded laminated posters stapled to the wall, grimy puzzles whose important info had rubbed off, bedraggled fabric as decor - this is the quality we expected in a small town, not a major city. We are sad to have spent $100 on this room for such poor quality. 2. Before beginning the game, we asked our gamemaster to offer minimal clues unless we...
asked for them; for us, the whole fun of an escape room is trial and error with puzzles, but being directed to the mini cupboard/tree/crown after little opportunity to think through the challenge took away the fun of the game. 3. From a disability access perspective, it was challenging not to know about the crawl space between rooms. As clients with mobility issues, it would have been helpful to know about the need to crouch and crawl. No response needed from the hosts, we just hope that the quality and room communication will be improved for future clients, but we will not be coming back.
Took my daughter to conquer the Kingdom of Night, was our 4th escape room experience to date. The puzzles were creative and the backstory was super fun, and Game Master George was clever with hints and advice and made the whole experience as entertaining as possible. 100% recommend to any GOT enthusiasts! (Still a great time if youre not). Will be back for Casino Heist!
Me and my friends had a great experience. We completed casino heist room in 54 minutes . Loved everything about it, atmosphere and puzzles unique and fun. Host was very nice and super helpful! Definitely coming back for the second room
A clever and fair escape room experience, intricate but solvable. Special props to George whose supervision as game master made the experience top-drawer. All in all, a fun break from the normal Chicago tourist activities. We ll be back!
Came to Art of Escape Room with friends from out of town and completed the Heist room. It was a lot of fun! Our GM, George, was really nice and made the experience a lot of fun. Highly recommend!
My friends and I had a wonderful experience with the casino heist escape room! It was so much fun, and the perfect level of difficulty for the three of us. Lots of clever puzzles and clues, and the hints provided good nudges in the right direction.
