I played a room with my family while we were on vacation at this location. We have a combined total of 98 rooms. We liked the theme of the room (Y2K), but that was about all we enjoyed. Our gamemaster was helpful, but not overly friendly. The locks in the room were random, so you have to try every lock to figure out which one youre opening. I will say the room was challenging and we asked for 2 hints and received a few nudges.

All the staff are very nice. However, the room is pretty old compared to the other escape rooms. But it is still a fun place for beginners or visitors. and I do suggest the gamemaster makes sure in the beginning how much help/ hints the team needs. Patient 57 interior - 2/5 puzzle - 4/5

Loved this! Went for my birthday with 3 friends. Our first time and we got down to the last clue. Was very fun and entertaining. Ive never had so much fun with padlocks :) highly recommend! The staff is also great and informative!

This place was so much fun. Definitely took a lot of thinking in the one we did. It would probably help if you have a bigger group but even with 2 of us we got pretty far ! The worker there was super nice and helpful. We will definitely be going back

We typically work as a team of six and go monthly on the mainland. While on vacation my husband and I checked out Breakout Waikiki for something to fill some time. We did the Secret sabotage with Devin as our game master. He did a great job knew if we needed a nudge or if we asked for a clue. We had a great time even ran across a few new puzzles. Would definitely recommend going. Devin even talked us into going back the next day to try one of the other rooms.

Our group of 4 love escape rooms and do them in just about every city we visit. We chose to try Breakout Waikiki s Patient 57 room during our family vacation. The experience was fun overall, but seemed poorly designed. It felt like the room creator accidentally bulk ordered four digit padlocks and had to come up with puzzles for them all. This meant that, despite there being a lot of cool and creative puzzles, they all took a similar form and were easy to mix up with another. This thing has numbers...
, and so does this thing, oh and this thing . And now we have a four digit code, yay!! Try it on all 5 available locks real quick to see what that random puzzle was for in the first place. There were also several puzzles that had pieces locked behind multiple other puzzles, but the pieces had no indication that you were still missing elements. This meant it was easy to burn time trying to solve a puzzle you weren t ready for because it seemed you had everything. Another issue we faced were some general maintenance issues. At a couple points my team successfully solved a puzzle but thought we must had made a mistake simple because the new unlock did not open properly or lacked any indication that something had changed. Our guide was fairly apathetic and was very quick to give unprompted clues. I feel this is indicative that they have seen many people run headfirst into these design issues and aren t sure what to do about them. I hope management can step in to make improvements. Some really simple things would go a long way to make this a top notch escape experience. Unique puzzle solutions (not just 4 digit codes), indicators like colored lights for when elements change, and ensuring it is obvious when elements are missing and/or do not belong together. With these changes I think everyone would have a much better time together.

Went today and the girl at reception wasn t nice or helpful when we arrived. But the room was great fun, we did Patient 57 as a pair and it was a great challenge! Would recommend doing that room with more than two people, but we will definitely go back again.

We love escape rooms, but not so much here. Lots of repetitive four number lock and code combos. The people that worked there didn t seem very into it and some of the clues were for puzzles we had already solved. Also we needed a lot more than the two of us to complete the room, so when we realized we still had 5+ puzzles to complete with time running out it we were a little discouraged.

We did the Obama Mission Manoa room with two people. We found the room okay overall. It sometimes felt a little less like solving puzzles and more like looking around for hidden lock combinations (ie: hide and seek). We had a few frustrating technical issues. One of our game components was locked out of order, so we had to bypass a puzzle (which I had been looking forward to completing). There was also a clue that was very visible but hard to parse, so I spent about 10 minutes trying to decipher...
it. Apparently this clue was not intended to be part of the game; it was a remnant of an older version of the room. The gamemaster hints/nudges were pretty useful for the most part, though sometimes said to do something wed already done which caused some confusion and lost time.

Not an expert by any means, but myself and 3 boys have completed a few escape rooms in the past. This one was a bit challenging, but we were so close to escaping. Just one last clue. The staff was accommodating and allowed us to start early and very helpful along the way. Would highly recommend. Mahalo!

This was a lot of fun! My fiancé and I did the Hero room while it was Halloween-themed and we got out with 12 minutes to spare. The people are very nice and it was super interactive! Not all escape rooms involve physical activity so that was a nice surprise!

Double shout out to two people: Want to thank Marie who made our parties experience here enjoyable. Thank you for being attentive during our experience. We had patient 57( which seemed fairly tough for 2 people). We went back here for a second time and we had Julian as our guide. First off, we had never solved a puzzle till now! (Game :The hero seemed fair for 2 people) We couldn t have done it without Julian being a respective and attentive guide during this trial. We also bought 2 shirts since this was our first win ever in any escape room and we had a lot of fun. He was understanding , fair and funny with his clues. Best guide!

We did The Hero and it was awesome! We have done many escape rooms from several different companies in a few different states and this, by far, was our most favorite. The room was excellently put together with plenty of things to keep all members busy throughout the whole game. Our players ranged in age from 13-60. A great time was had by all!

Had a blast with the family! We ve been to a few escape rooms and this was up there with the best! We did the secret sabotage and it was on the easier side and it felt great to finish with a good chunk of time to spare. They validate parking too which was a pleasant surprise.

We choose the Patient 57 room to do with our daughters 9 &11. I cant say it was super family friendly. We had the option to do without lights to keep it spooky and did. However, one of them wanted the lights on and hated the spooky music. (I loved the vibe). This is the 3rd escape room I have done and this one was by far the most difficult. We took extra clues and probably got half way through before time ran out. Imo escape rooms are sort of difficult in general unless you do them often and get on a roll. Either way, Im giving it a 5. The theme was so cool and very creative ways to open things (not just a lock and key over and over).

We did two rooms back-to-back. We did Y2K first. It was very challenging but fun and had a very unique theme. And then we did The Hero. The ambience in the second room was great. Our game master, Devin, was great! We would like to come back and do the other rooms!

We were impressed with the rooms (we ended up doing 4 of them over our vacation). The hints came in just when we needed them without giving things away. Ashley remembered us from our prior visits and was very helpful in making suggestions and ensuring we had a good time clearly it worked as we booked 2 more rooms after our experience! Thanks for a good time

Despite all our efforts we killed 1/3 of the world. Devin our advisor was awesome and gave us some hints, but despite his efforts and our expertise, we lost. It was an awesome and amazing experience with my family and 2 little girls who are great at crouching and going into small spaces. Come check out Breakout room Waikiki, you ll have fun!

There was 4 of us doing Y2K. One person s first time doing an escape room, two of us did only one other escape room and one person has done 4 or 5 prior. Our game guide, Bella, was welcoming and briefly explained some house rules. All the game items worked/functioned properly (my one previous escape room had a couple items that were broken so the game guide had to tell us what should have happened if it were working properly) and there were various clues to work on that kept us from crowding...
each other in the room. We did use 1 hint and were given a couple more when we were so close but running around in circles. Thankfully Bella was an attentive game guide and gave us those slivers of help to prevent us from starting tasks all over again. We were hoping to beat the fastest time (failed) but we re lucky to breakout. It was a good way to have some quality family time (got my son off his video games and kept us from sitting in front of the TV all night). We ll be back for the level 8 and 9 rooms.

Super fun activity to do with friends! Julian was a great game master, providing helpful clues when requested and patiently advising us not to destroy the props in our earnest effort to solve the puzzles. Definitely will come again.

What a great first time experience with the family. The game master really made our experience so much fun. When she could see we were struggling and asked for a clue, she would give us the clue. When we still didnt get it, she would write it another way. I appreciated her ability to be flexible and meet us where we were at in our understanding of the game. It seemed that after we got over the initial hurdle, the game went smoothly and my kids loved it so much. Thank you Breakout Waikiki for making it hard enough to be challenging, but not so hard that the kids felt defeated. We will be back. What an awesome family time.

Eric was amazing! He was so helpful with this being our first time ever going to an escape room. He had so much patience with my 2 kids too! We will definitely be going back again!

AUSTIN WAS SO GOOD ME AND HIM ARE NOW BESTIES HE WAS THE BEST . SUPER FUN AND VERY ENJOYABLE FOR ANY AGE, AUSTIN IS LITERALLY THE BEST. In all seriousness, the puzzles were very engaging, out of the box, and required everyone in the group to help and participate. On top of that, the staff members were super friendly! Totally recommend for groups of all ages and sizes!

If you care about quality and safety, I wouldn t recommend this escape room. I ve been to two other escape rooms based in Nashville and they were by far superior. We did secret sabotage here which had several malfunctions. 1. A wooden panel came off the wall. We thought this was a clue it was just poorly installed and needed to be repaired. 2. One of the doors to a second room did not open so they had to pause the game and our entire group had to leave until it was fixed 3. An electrical wire was...
faulty so a light that was supposed to turn on, didn t they told us to not worry about it and move on 4. This industrial metal door was jammed we had such a hard time opening it, my friend injured her finger and started bleeding in the middle of the game. When I asked the staff if they had ice, they told me to go to ABC. This game was such a joke. If I had planned the event and booked it for my friend group, I would have asked for a refund given the physical injury.

Super fun! We had all ages from 7 to 72 and everyone was able to contribute to us escaping the room! Ashley was super helpful too and the Hero room was challenging but fun!

We had a combined Bachelor(ette) party for our friends at this Escape Room and our large group of 30 couldnt have had a better time! Everyone enjoyed their rooms and had a great time. Wanted to give a big shoutout to Matt, Alexandra, and Olivia for being so communicative and helping us plan for our event. We felt fully prepared even with a large group and is definitely a place well think about again for future events. Thank you!
