My husband and I did The Mafia. Loved the theme. We finished with 14 minutes left, and are now at the top of the leader board. Nicole was our game master. She was friendly and nice. When we finished, she said that couples completing this room dont typically get as far (or fast) as we did. Would definitely go back here. Price for entry: $50
A blast! So this is my 3rd visit in the span of 5 years. It was an impulsive activity, we were heading to DC Saturday evening & read the description of the rooms while in the car. We were able to schedule the Alchemist room for 5 people at 915p. Luckily had it all to ourselves or it wouldve been crowded. Note, you can very much pass the building if not careful as its in a building you have to get buzzed into. I like puzzles and we did escape! So thats always the best feeling. Would recommend and do it again.
Great place for entertainment, but this location is hidden away on a side street with a small outdoor sign that is hard to identify. This location has some limited free street parking and a limited paid meter street parking.
Private rooms with interesting premises. Price per person scales down the more people you have in your party. We had fun. Did The Alchemist successfully. It was a room where you could feel clueless at first but once you realize what you need to solve, you can get on a roll. As of today, its rated as their second hardest room (award-winning). Locks were not complicated but the puzzles were satisfying and built a level of excitement to crack the next one. You dont need to mix any potions (although...
that would have been fun!) but all you need to know will be available in the room. Our gamemaster, Amanda was sweet and helpful. Unlimited hints but limit yourself to 3 to be considered on the leaderboard. Water is available and restrooms were clean. Coats and personal belongings can be stored in a closet. They also have a VR escape room which is not always available at the moment. Will return in the future to try the other rooms! Parking can be free in certain areas and during certain hours on the street. Paid parking and garages also nearby. The escape rooms are on the second floor of the building with a door on the side of it. Bookings seem to be non-refundable but can be rescheduled with at least 24 hrs notice.
We had a fantastic experience here and we chose a difficult room with Level 9, specifically the Alchemist. It was a lot of fun. The host Nicole was very kind to us and gave us clues at the right time.
Did the Alchemist room! So much fun and well decorated! The game master was so nice and helpful! The clues/puzzles are well thought out and lead you to your next clue/puzzle well! Cant wait to come back!
Being experienced with other more advance room setups, I was a little disappointed with our room. There was only one room to solve, even though there was another door with a pin lock I thought would open to another room. The theme was good, and the hints were a bit challenging, but not as difficult as I had anticipated. It would be nice if there was a monitor in the room with a time countdown so we know how much time is left and if we should ask for more clues. Overall, this was 7 out 10 for the experience. Still fun but could use some tweaking.
Insomnia Escape Room DC has some of the best customer service I have ever seen. Not only was the staff member in charge during our visit responsive and quick to assist if needed, but after we left, we accidentally left some items (e.g. cap, postcards, earrings). This was our last night at D.C. so once we returned home, I reached out to them and heard back from Mira, the awesome person who, to my surprise, actually got our items mailed back to us. I truly appreciate her willingness to help. PUZZLES...
4.5/5, appropriately difficult, though there were a few areas that left room for interpretation/misreading (the hidden writing) OVERALL QUALITY 4/5, some parts did look a little worn but otherwise, it all fit the theme/décor. FUN - 5/5, my wife and I had a great time CUSTOMER SERVICE 5/5 (of course)
This is one of the better Escape Rooms Ive done. Very good mystery but not impossible to solve. Easy to reserve. Staff was very friendly and quite helpful
I went here with a friend for my birthday. It was fun. I sort of figured out what happened. Ill definitely do it again.
First experience trying out an escape room. We did Dungeon Things and although we didnt finish it, it was fun! The price seemed reasonable, the staff was friendly, and the escape room props were good quality.
Did the Mafia Den room. Ive done 30+ escape rooms, and the theming were exceptional 11/10. Great atmosphere, excellent props, and a great narrative flow. The puzzles were good, but nothing to write home about. Well worth it and one of the better rooms Ive done. Beat it with 2 veterans with time to spare
Had a great (and challenging) time at this location! Definitely my favorite out of other escape-the-rooms in DC! Perfect for a day date or a fun stay-cation adventure.
We have done multiple rooms in the area and this by far has been the most fun and challenging escape room experience! Ren is amazing at giving clues and has such a positive attitude! Thank you for being a great game master and welcoming us to insomnia!!!
One of my favorite escape room locations in the DMV. Ive done two of the rooms now with a couple friends and we always have a great time. You truly feel immersed in the room and the props are really authentic and fun to use. I also love that the team doesnt give you clues unless you ask for them, but theres also no limit to the number of clues you can get if you need them. Definitely would recommend.
These escape rooms were not only fun but challenging! I love escape rooms and the ones I did were definitely a great experience. Game masters are very helpful and the rooms are well done :)
The Alchemist room was very unique and interesting, we did got stuck a few times but Amanda was super helpful without revealing the answers to the puzzles. Lots of fun, highly recommended!
Worst escape room I ve ever done. Arrived for our booking and the room wasn t set up, and throughout the Alchemist game multiple clues were missing (which the game master had to slip under the door). On top of that, the entire second half of the room was STILL left unset up even after the first mishap. Overall ruined the experience completely AND to add to the disappointment, I have contacted their customer support twice and heard nothing back . *also just outdated in general compared to other competition in the area, save your money and go somewhere better*
This was my first VR experience and I really enjoyed how real it felt. John was very friendly and did a great job explaining how things worked. Will definitely be back!
We did the Alchemist. Overall a very beautiful room. It s one of the harder rooms, an 8/10, so the puzzles were challenging but our game master Amanda was very sweet and helpful with the clues. Would reccomend if in the area
Stumbled upon this gem in a seemingly random location, and was delighted to experience the VR gaming they offered. It really was so much fun, and we had a blast trying out the different games, especially with the added effect of the VR experience! I would 10/10 definitely come back, as they also have a VR escape room I m dying to try. I only wish there were more games available to play, otherwise an incredibly fun experience (great for all ages)!
Had a wonderful time solving the Mafia escape room with a group of friends this past weekend! Very well designed room, intriguing story and great props. Its amazing how thought through all the clues are and how well the space of the room is used! I would recommend going to the room with max 5-6 people to maximize everyones involvement. Had absolutely no problem finding parking close to the building on a Sunday afternoon. Definitely coming back to Insomnia to try out other rooms!
We tried Dungeon Things at Insomnia as our first escape room experience and it was amazing! The game master was helpful, inviting and friendly and set the games rules and story well. The room itself was handmade and was immersive and told the story. The puzzles were challenging, intuitive and inventive. We never felt stuck or like we didnt know what to do next. Overall it was an excellent experience and we will definitely be returning.
Our experience was excellent! first off we were running late and the only employee there was Amanda she was generous enough to let us in and stayed way later than she was supposed to and we were still able to have experience of the standard game of the escape room as if we arrived on time. She made the birthday girl of the groups night we really appreciated this. 10/10
This was a great interactive experience. Instead of passively enjoying time together, you get to solve a crime together!!
Great experience, host was friendly. Room was challenging but made sense and flowed well.
Had so much fun and had an awesome game master give us clues to get us to the end! 10/10 recommend The Dungeon
So much fun!! My group did The Mafia one. We love the story and theme. We was able to get out!! Yay!! Not bad for our first time. Staff explained the rules very well and were very kind. Were definitely coming back!!! We want to escape the other rooms!!
Blake was the best! Very patient, kind and helpful. I had a lot of fun. We played the patient, and it almost got us but we got out with about 20 minutes left. I would recommend for first timers, people who are experienced, and family and friends. Great experience and I would come again. :)
I had a great time here with my boyfriend at the mafia room. It was our first time experiencing an escape room and while we didnt make it through we had a lot of fun. The props and puzzles were extremely well thought out and the room itself was beautiful and realistic for the theme. At the end of the 60 minutes I wished I had more time not because I wanted to solve it but also just because I wanted to keep playing. All in all it was an amazing experience and you can tell that whoever created the rooms meticulously crafted each detail and truly loved it. The clues made logical sense and was not too convoluted yet it was quite challenging. Definitely planning to come back here again
