We did Curse of the Black Knight! This room is elaborately themed and well thought out. We have done over 30 escape rooms, and this one by far is top 10 for sure. The use of tech did not intrude on the story theme time period and was well implemented to fit an escape room. The space was incredibly maximized to provide a true immersion adventure that allowed us to enjoy ourselves thoroughly! I believe our game master was Damon who did a great job getting us started and provided a couple of gentle...
nudges during the game to steer us in the proper direction. I have played the Attic with my coworkers years ago and that too was a great game and very challenging with a large group of people since it can get chaotic. EscapeX has proven to be one of the top escape rooms near us that does a great job of using a solid story line with creative and challenging puzzles without being obscure, too confusing or just plain excessive with everything just for the sake of it.
We did curse of the black knight. It was fun! The room was nicely designed. The puzzles are linear. Minus one star because it was too dark.
Our game master was terrible. Felt like he was rushing us the entire time. Our group never asked for hints, but our gm was constantly giving them out. We did curse of the black knight, would not recommend the room to anyone over 6 or have back/knee problems as the ceiling is short and there is a good amount of crawling involved. There is also no clock in the room so you cant see how much time you have left.
It was my first ever escape room experience. I played the Mafia Heist with 3 friends, and we were able to successfully complete the room! It was very engaging and a fun storyline. I loved every second of it! I need to come back and try out the other rooms for sure!
My family had a great time in the Mafia Heist Room. This was our first escape room for many in the group. The staff members were polite and professional. We were able to make it out with 8 min to spare, with one clue. Id go for no clues next time. Makes the win more satisfying. Nothing scary about this room, nice theme with some clever puzzles. Can hold 12 but smaller groups would be more comfortable here. I think 6-8 would be the sweet spot.
Dropped by recently to try out The Curse of The Black Knight room on another friends and they did not disappoint! This room was well thought out, detailed and overall lots of fun! I accomplished this room with just one other person and that seemed to be a good amount, perhaps a few more would be okay too. The staff as well were very welcoming and accommodating and truly helped make the experience the fun it was!
This was the most exciting escape adventure by far! I have been doing escape room derby over the last year around OC and this one The Curse of the Black Knight was the most exciting and unexpected. I truly felt like on an Indiana Jones adventure. Now, can we recreate this in another version so we can experience this rush again? Thanks, guys, well done!
My friends and I did The Curse of the Black Knight room, and it was *incredibly* fun, immersive, and creative. The puzzles were a great use of the space and were very cool and on-theme. We do a lot of escape rooms, and this one was the most enjoyable of all of the ones we ve done. The difficulty rating is pretty accurate too. We had a great time talking with the employee running our game too! He was friendly and funny, and you can tell how passionate he is about creating these rooms! We are definitely going to check out the other rooms here. I would highly recommend it.
First time and definitely was a very nice experience. The crew was extremely friendly and helpful. We tried The Mafia and the puzzles were very challenging. We had such a good time and well be back!
This review is for Curse of the Black Knight- its been a while since Ive done a room and immediately wanted to tell everyone who might ever want to do an escape room that they should do the one I just found. But this was that type of awesome room. Incredibly unique, good for small groups, and full of surprises. Just super cool. Finished with a lot of time remaining, but felt like the room still gave more to remember than most of them out there. Will definitely be back to check the other rooms out.
We did the room called The Attic and overall it was very immersive. The room, the lights, the sounds made it really easy to follow the story and get into the game. There were various puzzles that were hard enough to solve but easy enough that if youve done a couple you can figure it out. The lobby was a bit small but the staff was really nice and fair when it comes to clues. I had a great time and looking forward to coming back again.
My group did The Attic room. It was extremely well made. Some of the puzzles were difficult, but in the good way (they just take a bit of creative thought). The atmosphere was great. For escape room veterans, this room in particular had a couple of unique mechanics that I had not run across previously. On top of how awesome the room was, the owner was clearly an enthusiast, and was quite nice. He also accommodated my group last minute, which was great.
Lots of fun and a blast for all. I would recommend this to anyone forsure. Definitely a challenge but not too hard. Fun.
A group of four of us did the Haunted Sherlock escape room. We were running a bit late to our appointment but they were very gracious and still allowed us the full time. Great experience solving the puzzles!
I picked this company for my team to do a fun team-building escape room experience based upon its awesome reviews. I liked that they were able to accommodate large parties and that it was a private booking, not shared with strangers. We were late arriving and they were so kind to allow us the entire hour we booked. We did The Attic escape room and it was a little creepy initially but once the game started going it was super fun! Our team of 9 managed to escape the room with less than a minute remaining...
. The puzzles were challenging and fun to solve and we were offered unlimited clues, we probably used about 7 clues. It was a great time, fun team-builder, and a challenging escape room - all the makings of an awesome experience. We will definitely use this company again for our next team builder.
Our group of 4 did the Attic a few nights ago. Great room, very creepy. We would have gotten out faster if we weren t so freaked out at the beginning thanks to our game master, Anthony. He helped make things super creepy right from the start and made the entire experience much more immersive! We will be back to try the other rooms and the new room at the second location!!
We had an amazing experience at this escape room! We did Curse of the Black Knight and it was so fun and well made. The puzzles were enjoyable and rewarding to solve, and the theme was very strong. Our host, Kyler, was so sweet and very helpful whenever we were stuck. I definitely recommend the Curse of the Black Knight!
We had a horrible experience at this escape room facility. We were unfortunately completely misled to believe that this would be an appropriate venue for our daughters birthday party. She has done several escape rooms with friends and they were fun and enjoyable because their difficulty was age appropriate and they would get help when needed. We were completely misled to believe that this was a good location for our daughter and her friends. The place is dark, smells, is in incredibly hot inside...
and the person, Dorian, that was assigned to help us had no experience in dealing with a young group of girls. This was a complete nightmare and ruined our daughters birthday. The game was far too difficult for their age, the room was dark and hot, multiple items didnt work which made it even more complicated, it was truly infuriating that we were mislead to think this was a good place for her party. I reached out to the owners a couple of times and they never responded so just goes to show they dont care about their business or customers. Avoid this place at all costs, its a dump and our particular person that assisted us was horrible. 0 Stars
Our first time going to an Escape room that came highly recommend by a friend. What a great experience. We did the Curse of the Black Knight with our two daughters and absolutely had a blast. The clues were challenging but it was great to work together to figure each one out. The layout was awesome filled with cool spaces to explore. We loved every moment. The staff, Mikey was so helpful and enthusiastic about the Escape rooms!!
Normal simple theme. Nonlinear, multiple fun puzzles but lots of locks. Some took multiple tries with the right combo. 4 people good but you have to be fast. We probs finished 70% of the room. GM decided when to give hints. Tim was our game master and was fantastic. He stayed in character for the game. Lobby is fun, immersive, and dark.
went to do the curse of the black knight for my husbands birthday! super fun, and incredibly immersive. the story was pretty linear, but very engaging, with lots of physical puzzles on top of standard locks. our host also mentioned they were likely updating it within the next year or so to give it a face lift. overall will definitely be doing the other rooms, it was so much fun.
Great puzzles, a wonderfully immersive room, and friendly and helpful staff. We had a blast.
Unfortunately, my experience at EscapeX Rooms at Irvine was less than desirable. We did The Curse of the Black Knight. The biggest issue was the temperature - it was unbearably hot inside, which made it difficult to focus and enjoy the experience. Additionally, the lack of space made it hard to move around, and we found ourselves constantly bumping into each other and tripping over obstacles. To be honest, the experience was a bit disappointing, especially considering that I went there for my birthday...
. Two of us felt uncomfortable and we didnt enjoy it as much as we were hoping to. Im not sure if the issues were due to a lack of proper ventilation or an overcrowded room, but it was not ideal at all. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it based on my experience. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and accommodating, and they did their best to make us feel welcome. However, the poor conditions inside the room overshadowed any positives. Overall, I feel disappointed and wouldnt recommend this escape room.
Tim helped us out & it was amazing! Curse of the black knight was not difficult, but sooooo fun! My favorite room by far. The puzzle types are more physical & I just loved the whole experience. Youll get a little sweaty by the end though haha
Such a fun experience, and a great story! Without giving too much detail about the actual room or plot, we chose the Mafia Heist experience, and it was SO good! There were 4 of us working together and we escaped with 1 second left! The rooms were awesome, felt like a very real experience. We felt very safe, it was mandatory to wear our masks at all times and we were provided hand sanitizer before and after, as well as a restroom to wash our hands. Thanks to the staff for making us feel very comfortable, and for setting up such a cool experience!
My group and I did the Mafia Heist escape room and were taken aback by the creativity and ambiance. It was such a fun experience! I would have never believed that we were going to have as much fun as we did completing the room. The details were incredible and the room was so immersive. It was clear that the decor was professionally done with a staff committed to delivering an awesome experience. If you are thinking about an escape room with a relevant but challenging puzzle line, this is absolutely the one! We can t wait to try their other rooms!
We chose The Attic for our company team building day, and we couldnt have had more fun. While we didnt finish the room, It was an excellent challenge and we had fun every second we were there. Anthony and Andie were great! Their instructions were clear, easy to follow and they tailored our experience to the (intermediate) level of our group. We never felt talked down to when they offered hints, and their spot-on humor made it feel like they were another member of our group, and definitely added to the fun! Next time (And there will definitely be a next time!!) we are not going to not do the hardest room they have, so we have a chance of finishing...
So, I did the Curse of the Black Knight in celebration of my friends birthday and I got to say that even though we failed on finishing the escape room on time, it was still a fun and learning experience for me and my friends. I also really appreciate the Game Masters generosity on at least letting us see how the game ended and giving us advice on what we should do the next time we want to succeed on an escape room.
We did the Mafia Heist as a family, and loved it. This was our first non-linear escape room, and it is now what I want to do for now on. No. Linear allowed us to split into smaller groups so our younger kiddos felt more involved. It was a great experience, highly recommended.
We, a party of six, did The Attic and we had a great time. The puzzles were challenging but the immersive environment was the best weve seen yet! We highly recommend both The Attic and EscapeX Rooms! Well be back soon to do the Mafia room!
