This is the best escape room place!!!! Love love love their rooms here, especially their Western room. Ive done a lot of escape rooms and so far Lockdowns Western room is my absolute favorite. Their clues all make sense unlike some of the other rooms Ive done. Everything is well thought out and the props are a lot better than other escape rooms in my opinion. Their videos which give you the background story were actually well made. Ive tried all 4 rooms here. The Medieval room was by far the easiest...
. Three of us completed it in 27 minutes and 13 seconds, with 2 of us being seasoned escape room players and 1 being completely new to escape rooms. They say the Science room is the hardest, but I actually thought the Voodoo room was more difficult. The rooms are $35/person, but if you come back to do another room within a week, they give you a discount. Ranking the rooms in order of the ones I like best: 1) Western room 2) Science room 3) Medieval room 4) Voodoo room
Hands down one of the best escape room venues in San Diego. They have rooms for all experiences. As you walk in they greet and set you up almost immediately. Once you sign the waiver you watch a short back story of your room and what are you goals. If you are able to solve the small puzzle cube they might give you an extra clue for your room but it does t always happen. They have four rooms to try . We have attempted all of them and had a huge success. They have the medevil room easiest, Western room intermediate, voodoo room intermediate, and the lab hardest. The clues are very well placed and with a good team everyone should be successful if not having lots of fun. I would recommend this place.
Did this as part of a bachelor party and had a great time. We did the Western room which was one of the medium rooms. Most of us had not done an escape room before and two of us had. The puzzles were really fun and require team work. Finished with 20 minutes to spare and no clues used! Would go back and do a more difficult room.
Western Room- This room was pretty cool. Loved the beginning even though we ended up solving it the non traditional way. Dont over think it and remember to communicate your findings and youll be fine. The room its self was not difficult at all. The thumbing is very good and the puzzles arent too challenging. It was the right amount of easy for us. This was our first of 4 rooms for he night so we wanted an easier room to warm us up. I recommend this room if you are newer to escape rooms as I believe...
it offers a good mix of some common puzzles. The location was easier to find, there is metered parking on the street. The lobby area was nice and they have some awesome props to pose with in your victory photos! Our game masters were very attentive and made the experience super fun, they even stayed to talk with us for a bit afterwards, which we always appreciate! Only reason I took off 1 star was because of a physical puzzle in the room which the GM had to come fix for us because we had been solving it another way which caused a piece to fall out of our reach. To fix this in the future I would simply magnet the item to the piece or hook it onto it so that it cant be knock off so easily. Overall, Western was a fun room if you are looking to kill some time in SD. I would like to come back and try their other rooms as well.
Had such a fun time here! We went into the Western room and had a blast! It wasnt too hard and we made it out in time with 4 people. The staff here are super friendly and they gave us really good hints when we asked. Highly recommend coming here for a fun night out!
It was pretty good. I think we were too many for the room and maybe I felt like it was too easy, but still enjoyed it. We tried the voodoo store (I think that was the name), but the atmosphere wasnt really appropriate for it, it was brighter than an Aeropostale store, maybe a little bit more gloomy/dark/creepy scene for that theme.. Still I enjoyed it and recommend it. Well try a harder level next time.
Unfortunately we will not be returning. My boyfriend and I have done 30+ escape rooms and the Voodoo Room had elementary puzzles and not much theatrical production. This is an awesome spot for beginners and children though!
We did the science room which was a lot of fun. Unique story line and creative puzzles that definitively made us think. Very friendly staff, would recommend!
We showed up ~7 minutes late due to lack of parking on a saturday night, so our time was cut a bit short, which is understandable. Even with our tardiness, the room was not set up correctly (clues were in wrong spot, doors that were supposed to be locked weren t, etc) and truly ruined the experience. The host should have at least moved us to a different room, if not completely refunded us? You had one job. Voodoo room had no storyline. Everything felt dirty. No picture was taken at the end.
It was our 1st time there, but we have done many rooms. We were a group of 9, 4 adults and 5 kids ages 6 to 11. It was fun and the kids had a blast. Next time we will try a harder room.
Not gonna lie, this was pretty challenging, but in a good way! So if you are up for it, try the science room. Jason was a really chill GM. Would recommend.
We completed the VooDoo room. Pretty good puzzles with decent immersion in the story but overall escape room was quick. This one was definitely easy and left us feeling a bit underwhelmed especially for the price and compared to others in town. My friends and I love to do escape rooms but we do not usually finish with so much time on the clock. If you are new to escape rooms, this place would be a good place to start.
Took my two boys (10 and 13) for our first ever escape room- didnt know what to expect but we all had a great time in the Western Room! Made it out with less than 2 minutes to spare. All of the employees were fantastic- very friendly, professional, and helpful. Were all fairly good at puzzles and some of them were very tricky. Had to use all three of our hints. Great family activity and forces everyone to work together to succeed. Highly recommend!
We picked the Voodoo room and had a great time. The staff was super friendly. Krystal and Mark were our clue-givers and they were helpful and even blatantly helpful when we needed it. I did this with my coworkers as a sort of team bonding exercise and we even escaped!! And we are definitely NOT escape room pros. Im already planning my next trip here.
We did 3 put of the 4 rooms. Most of the rooms were good, just 1 room had a symbol that was misleading. Ive done 60+ rooms & my group has done 100+ each. The misleading symbol was unnecessary & we havent encountered that before. Other than that the rooms were entertaining & fun. The host was very nice & had to run the whole place by himself, but he did a great job. It was definitely busy but he was in top of everything.
The friendliest staff and very professional. It was so much fun. Use all your senses! My friends and I had so much fun coming here, I would definitely book another date here again! The explanation was great and I cant get over how nice all the staff was. The place was clean and very well kept. Definitely recommend this place to your friends and family. Over all it was an amazing experience. I just wish we couldve taken pictures inside but its understandable why they dont allow that. The parking could be closer though, even though it was across the street, it was quite confusing if you are not familiar with that area.
This was such a fun family activity that my husband gave me for my birthday. There were seven of us, which included three adults and four children from the age of 7 to 14. Everyone had fun. We did the western escape room. The story and details were good. The company makes the escape challenging but achievable. We were stumped several times but persevered and figured it out. There were a few really challenging parts that I dont think the kids could have solved on their own, so I do think having an adult in the room is helpful. Overall a great activity. We cant wait to come back for more!
Would not recommend, the sign said open and our appointment was for 2:15 but nobody was there when we showed up. We waited for 30 minutes but the place was empty. We were told by the website we bought the ticket from that all sales were final so we were not able to get a refund either.
Ive never been to an escape room before and after my first time im addicted i almost finished getting through it all the way through before the time ran out part of me wishes there would be more time to get through the game but another part of me just motivates me to come back and try harder. Thank for the experience!
This was our second escape room, 1st time at this location and we had a group of 4. We did the Western Themed room and it was pretty cool. Same kind of concept where you need to figure out puzzles or clues to get codes to unlock locks to get to the next. It takes some brain power and thinking outside of the box, everyone brings something different which is helpful. We were allowed only 3 hints during the game, and we used them wisely. We all Escaped with 5 minutes left on the clock and reveled in our victory! I would definitely recommend trying this one if youve had an easy one under your belt and we are interested in trying the Voodoo room next.
Not a bad escape room by any means, but if you have a couple rooms under your belt already then it might be a little underwhelming. Definitely still had fun and possibly will be back to give their other rooms a try.
We did the Voodoo room. The room itself was okay, but very disappointed by the customer service. They do not have any drinking water on the premise for customers, and our guide enforced a strict no food or drinks policy for our group. He did not even let us keep our newly purchased water bottle near the front desk, and we had to throw it after a few sips. However, just before entering the room, we saw one of the members of another group exit their room with a drink cup. Additionally, when we wanted...
to step out to purchase water to hydrate ourselves before we stepped into the room for 60 mins, our guide warned us that we have no more than 5 mins even though we had arrived 20 minutes early and still had 13 minutes left for our scheduled start time at 10.20 pm. He was also curt while providing clues. Overall we felt like he assumed we were out to damage or steal something, which killed a lot of our enthusiasm and it was not a fun experience as a result.
Did the Science Room with my friends few weeks ago and it wasn t organized whatsoever. There s no direction; the room was bland and wasn t interactive. Game masters were not paying attention and was complicated. There was no timer or clock to keep track of time and we couldn t use our phones. Would not recommend anyone to do this Escape Room, not worth your time. I feel like our team deserves a refund for the lack of professionalism.
Voodoo was enjoyable but there was no storyline. This deserves a 3/5 because the service was the worst I ve experience in an escape room. There was a lack of enthusiasm from our game master. When we finished early, we have never been escorted out so quickly before. Not even asking us if we had any questions about any of the puzzles but rather asking us to empty our pockets. When we went outside of the room after the game, our game master didn t even ask us if we wanted to take a picture. He legit just walk us to the front desk and said okay you guys are done .
Most fun Ive had in a really long time! The host was amazing! We did the Western escape and worked so well as a group. I was so proud of the clues I figured out on my own and the locks I opened. This is definitely a business to try! 10 s
I had fun at this place. The puzzles were good, made sense, and engaged me. We left with only 28 seconds left. That said, one of our party members was in a wheelchair and the staff refused reasonable accommodations for her to see one of the puzzles that was set high out of sight. We were really disappointed by the flippant attitude we encountered. Put a Polaroid of what the puzzles looks like - easy. ADA says reasonable accommodations should be made, but the policies of the owner do not seem to align with the spirit or letter of the law based on our experience. Would have given this place high ratings if not for the disregard shown to the experience of my friend.
Yes. Simply yes. There are a ton of escape rooms in San Diego but Lockdown has it *locked down!* Puns aside, Jason was a one man show running the location and he was an outstanding game master. We ended up doing all four escape rooms (Voodoo, Medieval, Western, and Science) in a row because it was such a blast. Each room housed unique puzzles that regardless of difficulty, were fascinating and really fun! The escape rooms on their own were excellent, but Jason really made the experience with his friendly and professional demeanor. So, if you re reading this, yes to Lockdown. :)
I recently completed the Science Escape Room at this location with a group of people, and even though it was the hardest, we escaped! I enjoyed the room and how it was challenging and allowed for my team to do some teambonding trying to figure out what we needed. The staff member was very nice and helpful since this was our first time attemping one. Overall, amazing location and room, will return if we need another challenge
This was the first time I had tried an escape room and it was an awesome experience. The waiting area was super relax and comfy, keeping our group of 7 well seated and anxious in anticipation of what we were gonna see. Amanda, the employee who was helping us, made it an easy and fun experience especially to those of us completely new to escape rooms. We had tried the Science room which was the hardest of all the rooms and found the theme . The inside was well decorated and well lit. All the clues...
fed into each other making the process of solving the room super enjoyable with constant progress its a drip feed of Ah ha! moments that ultimately reveal the exit to the room. Overall it was a very enjoyable experience which made me want to try the other rooms but unfortunately we were the last party book for the shop before it closed. I would definitely visit here again.
Such a fun time!! I planned a date night for my fiancé and I and I wanted to surprise him with an escape room! (We had done one before and loved it). Lockdown did not disappoint!!! I booked the Voodoo room (which proved itself challenging), however Mark gave us 5 extra minutes to try finishing the room and we finished it 1 min 20 sec later). We ended up loving it so much we booked the Western room for later in the evening. We beat that room at 58 min and 40 sec. The rooms were no easy feat, but the props and the helpful hints from our hosts Mark and Lisa made it a great experience. I highly recommend!!! Definitely deserves 5 stars!!!
